Early Access // This Week's Video

Hello there! I'm currently out of the office visiting family in San Diego, but I still finished up this week's upcoming video before sneaking away. Here is the process behind making the armor inspired jacket from Sanctus!

Thank you for your support ❤

I am learning so much from your videos showing your pattern drafting process. Thank you for taking the time. Question: You mention adding 1/4” in ease in the side seam and 5/8” in the armhole to convert a bodice to a jacket. Is that enough to wear your jacket comfortably over a typical blouse, or do you tend to wear something very fitted underneath instead? I’m planning to turn my bodice block into a suit jacket, which is why I ask. My pattern drafting book says add 1/2” for a jacket, but of course that’s “standard,” which does not mean it suits everyone. I prefer a more fitted look myself, but I do need to raise my arms in a blazer to write on a whiteboard. Thanks.

Unrelated but about pins and sewing over them: totally can but only perpendicular to fabric so needle pushes them aside https://youtu.be/SqhOXcCJy-Q?si=n5o1wP-Ery7RBUOS

This jacket is so cool. It reminds me of Zendaya’s armor look, but wearable. Bias Bespoke has cupro bemberg linings. They range from about $18-25 a yard, but they do offer a 10% discount when you buy 3 to 12 yards and a 20% discount if you buy 12 or more yards. I’m not sure how much the shipping to you would be, but it’s not unreasonable for shipping to Ohio and they’re very fast.

Thank you Lynsi! I shall perhaps have to buy black lining in bulk then when I'm settled in the next studio 😂

I loved the last jacket but I think this one might just have topped it. Its amazing and I absolutely love the inspiration. P.s. I think energy is overrated, at least that's what I tell myself when I also have non but a deadline that's looming. So far it's not working. I hope you can recharge a little on your vacation to visit your grandparents. And if you want cold weather you should come to the Netherlands because I think summer is cancelled and autumn started in May with its chilly weather and rain and storms every day.

Thank you! Chilly rain sounds most excellent to me yes 😅✨

Also, I'm just blown away by the set you put together! That must have taken so much time and effort to add the extra walls. It looks like the entrance/exit for a fashion show. I'd love to see a video about it if you have the footage

Unfortunately I was crunched enough on time that I didn't record making this set, but I can do a tour over there and talk through it if that would still be of interest!

Enjoy your break! If there were ever a contest for best-dressed: travel edition, you'd 100% be the winner. I love getting to see all the experimentation with materials btw.

You might like Fabworks Online as they have some magnificent lining fabrics. They're in Yorkshire, England but ship worldwide.

Enjoy your break! I love medieval fashion, so love the fashion inspiration here. Looks cool! A childhood friend of mine lives in Littleton, Colorado, and just visited the Museum of Illusion this past weekend in Denver & got some cool photos there. Maybe check it out if you can. Some of your outfits would probably look super fun in photos there.

You could try Beglarian fabrics - yes, postage is an issue, as are local taxes, but even taking all that into account, lining fabrics are very affordable - just do a search in filters. You do need to be vaguely aware of shipping costs etc when you order because they calculate after packing, but I have used them a few times and, for getting some lovely fabrics at such low prices, they are excellent.
