So unseasoned for adulthood you could be convinced you are reading for anything—perfectly describes how I was too! (I’m 39 now.)
Saw this Horror Film event and thought of you Sarah Marshall: https://www.forbiddenworldsfilmfestival.co.uk/?fbclid=IwY2xjawUkYrtleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBwZG9mBHNydGMGYXBwX2lkDzQwOTk2MjYyMzA4NTYwOQABHkN_UP4CpOUm1wdeWVbG-4a6nubVHUD9eVB84Kg7wfx3p7XjoVVgFUjcHMsU_aem_vEiNdF63fg-lzCHjHpgJ2Q
You should do a book club episode about the new princess diana biography.
As somebody who was in an abusive relationship as a 17 year old with a married man three times my age: thank you for referring to Amy Fisher as a child. I feel we need to stop calling minors ‘young women’. I freed myself from the ‘relationship’ finally when I was 23. He was my minister which didn’t make it easier. Breaking free was the hardest thing I ever did in my life. I have completely forgiven myself for not being able to leave earlier but it’s still a good feeling to hear you guys pointing out never to blame ourselves.
Listening to this as I’m heading to my ancestral home on Long Island couldn’t be more appropriate
I personally am here for the silent doll story retelling if ever in doubt
Pre-ordered! A Jamie Loftus NOVEL (!) is exactly what this world needs right now. Amazing episode – as always, the empathy and nuance you ladies bring to your subjects is inspiring, enlightening, and always such a joy to listen to. Thank you both ♥️
as a woman with a slight regional accent who is in the process of leaving/divorcing an addict…thank you.
I think we get more scared of things that used to not be scary because of how newer things are more well made (for lack of a better phrase). The animatronics were high tech awesome back in the day but now they're janky compared to newer versions. Same with old dolls that were handmade and more basic which was normal then. But now we have mass produced "perfect" dolls so the cruder ones of yesteryear seem creepy in comparison.
Handsome Squidward is the version of Squidward with the chiseled face. Squilliam Fancyson is a separate character that is the fancier rival of Squidward.
Was just about to comment this, how could one forget about handsome squidward?
I absolutely loved this episode. Unfortunately very relatable and I really appreciated the empathy given to the women in this impossible situation. 🧡
As someone who is currently 23, hearing my favorite podcasters talk about how uncooked they were at my age or older is hugely comforting. I’m definitely hoping to cook more.
Can't wait to start this! Part 1 prompted me to look up and listen to Jamie's excellent The Lolita Podcast.
Yes me too... halfway thru Lolita Podcast now... so much I didn't know. I was raised by a second wave feminist so I always looked down on this book & it's aesthetic. Very eye opening 😉 Also, I was a teenager when the whole Amy Fischer scandal happened so it's interesting revisiting it as an adult. I should relisten to the You're Wrong About episode about her to refresh my memory. Keep up the EXCELLENT WORK!!
