I'm not sure if you've covered this episode yet, but I would really love to see the episode "Buried Sin" get discussed. That's the one that stayed with me always since first listening to it.
Oh my god, or "The Painting" as well. Would fucking love to see that one discussed. Insane fucking episode actually.
Oh boy I'm looking forward for the return of Novacommies (a subseries of Whit's Endless Summer) with special guest November 'Nova' Kelly.
Brian, once again, dealing me psychic damage as another New Mexican in their 30s by pulling out a "Planet Fun" description and making me Leo DiCaprio point at my car radio.
“He knows I bear no ill will, apologies to the lady” is so good.
A cartoon poindexter character being aroused by a printed human gene sequence because he can visualize what the person it came from looks like
So is the implication of the cold open that Whit's Endless Summer is the equivalent of getting dragged out to the forest and drowned by your droogs? Are we Alex? Is AJ?
Yay! Squanto mentioned!!! It would make a fantastic Thanksgiving episode. I had the tape as a kid.
THANK YOU FOR COVERING GLOOBERS!!! The cartoon adaptation of this episode was the ONLY thing that ever gave me recurring nightmares as a kid. Mister/Master Brain is fucking terrifying.
but seriously that was a very accurate Pfhor sound
Fucking Boomers, man. "Things are good the way they've always been, and kids should have fun the way I think they should. Why should I allow them to get and do what they want? Why should they get anything new?"
Thank you for the We’re Back reference.
dobson's "outreach to homosexuals" mention reminds me of the one time i randomly got a christmas card sent to my address from a conversion therapy org. Freaked me the hell out, to this day I'm not certain where they got my information
That's fucking terrifying.
More like Neon Odyssey EvanMulligan
I truly must thank Brian for not letting “face in the barrels like donkey Kong” go. As soon as it was said I needed more
I was SO confused as a child when Mitch's voice suddenly changed. Me and my sister rewound the tape a few times trying to figure it out
I have the mental sickness where I think i can see the joke forming but I'm too fucking stupid to actually put it together. All I have is that if "Greenblatt's" is spelt "Grynblaaadt" as some kind of a Dutch joke it has most of the letters of "galt ayn rand" there and it upsets me because even with the power of three beers and four coffees behind me I lack the cognitive ability to get over the finish line before the big reveal :(
Ahh, so Odyssey has a Code of Honor episode. Good to know.
A few notes: - Novacummies - Josh will rue the day that drop was made - Newletters for context was a fantastic addition
Whit altering the Imagination Station to speedrun the Book of Genesis to try and compete with Novacom feels a lot like MrBeast's "fast-foodification" of the Survivor voting process (h/t Caleb). if only Jimmy Donaldson had listened to AiO he could have avoided that pitfall
I grew up in Orange City, Iowa which has its own imitation version of the Holland, MI Tulip Festival, and when the cops came to school to like tell us about drugs or whatever, they told us that stealing or cutting off a tulip was a $150 fine
I was very close to going to college in Orange City. There but for the grace of God(?) go I
Interstitials are so good! I want more
It’s a Mormon thing.
Gotta say, Josh was pretty clear in setting up for an “oh look at that package” drop, idk why AJ and Brian didn’t see it. I said it out loud to myself as soon as Josh cued it. #thatsgoodjosh
Episode’s been out for 2 days and we’re making a hashtag. Hell yeah #thatsgoodjosh
Brian's Whit in the Patmos interstitial series makes me think of the fucked up sea lion thing from the Pingu episode where he has the nightmare
Brian’s Dobson is kinda Rex Allen
Oh, hey. Cool. It’s Mitch. We finally got to Mitch. *vibrating in a very neurotypical way* …Are… are we gonna talk about… *sweating profusely* about Rich… Richard M…
you were terrified of fruitport? I feel like fruitport is not one of the Muskegon suburbs that have a bad wrap lmao. Also I love whenever there's a hyper local west michigan chat :)
the riot scene is RIDICULOUS - it's giving Martin Luther during the Peasants Revolt 🤢
Every time the fotf center is brought up I gotta mention my baby brother (5 or 6 at the time) doing foley while the bigger kids voiced a couple scenes. Very fun. He was actually really good and had a blast. I think it definitely inspired him to start working with sound and writing his own music—he’s still only 13 but he’s pretty damn talented if I do say so myself lol. And I totally took a selfie with Edwin’s playbill because I’m. A homosexual
Loving the discourse about video arcades, but they aren’t just for GenXers. My teenage nephews love old (“vintage”) video games and arcade games. They search these places out when they are traveling! Also, the cat rescue that I foster for in Chicago, the Catcade, has an arcade themed cafe. Pay your money to get a can of soda and pet cats and play Miss Pac-Man for an hour. It is very popular for the games as well as the cute kittens.
Please do the newsletters again in future
time spent in the imagination station is compressed, for those in the know future eugene shows up and tells us about cell
Is this whole mulligan thing a shaggy dog?
Glad to get this just as the Iran war starts against
I just took a friend to see Come From Away in Vancouver who wasn’t familiar with it at all. The slow turn and *look* I got after about two songs when they said ‘is this fucking 9/11’ sustains me
Do you have a link to the album art you talk about in the episode?

2-Large sounds more like a bad combo of 2Pac and Biggie
Wasn't prepared for the We're Back jumpscare but idk why I'm surprised
The sheer amount of podcast delirium in this episode was fantastic.
3 minutes in and legit I'd love to hear AJ and Brian talk about Yu-gi-oh for an episode. If no other reason than AJ doing the Yami voice XD
Yeah, I can say hearing the actual words of Dobson makes me hate him more. Like I disliked him, but now the actual words have pushed me into hatred.
AJ definitely said Riku instead of Ruku. I am playing chain of memories at 3am and that broke me.
