A Selection of Rooms Created by The Team

Hi everyone! Chloe here for our final playtest-related Patreon post.

Today, we will be looking at a selection of rooms that were created during the Build Mode playtest. The devs each had to furnish and decorate 3 square rooms, with styles of their choice! This Patreon post is for Patrons only, so please do not share it.

🎯 Our goals with this playtest were:

  • 🐛 Are there any issues with the current in-game objects? Those pointed out by the team were known and mostly things that will be addressed in the near future.

  • 🪑 Was there any furniture or decor items missing? We weren’t missing any big pieces (phew!) and were given fun suggestions by the team for decorations.

  • ✨ Was there an obvious furniture style we had forgotten? The suggestions we received for this were already planned content.

  • We also wanted everyone to get familiar with the content that was added to the game since the launch of production, which is quite a bit!

A Selection of Rooms Created by The Team

Let us take a look at what the team came up with!

Gabrielle came up with this cute and calm bedroom! I feel like I’d have sweet dreams in there, although I’d always be haunted by the constant reminder that there are boxes left to unpack.

In the same vibes as the previous room, Alice created this pastel kitchen! I like the mix of the mint green and the warm yellowish orange used for the stools.

Léa went for a more industrial look for this cozy living room! We know she uses the build mode frequently because she is the only dev who used food for her build (foods are well hidden in the menus).

Léa also did a nautical-themed bedroom. We thought that perhaps eventually, some wood boat models would be a nice thing to have as decor to match this aesthetic.

Alex really surprised us with this very cluttered living room! We always love some chaos. It showcases many objects and the power of the advanced placement tool.

Andrei brought us a very colourful living space: the colors are so bold, it really gives this whole room a warm, summer vibe ☀️

On the opposite side of the spectrum, I made this gothic-style bedroom. I summoned my past teenage self for this one. Skulls and such are definitely a must for this type of decor, which could be nice to include in the future!

I also created this retro living room. I was vaguely inspired by my grandparents’ house when I came up with this one.

We don’t have the full furniture catalog in the game just yet, but it was interesting seeing what everyone came up with and how different the end results were, even with the currently limited selection. I think the team had fun exploring the catalog and creating the rooms. It makes me excited to get the game in y’all’s hands so you can also have fun exploring what we’ve created!

That concludes today’s Patreon post! Have a lovely weekend ~

Everything looks beautiful! 💚

By the way, an idea came to mind: what if all furniture or other decorative items were immediately in boxes when they were placed, but when you clicked, the box would instantly open? A touch of realism, perhaps

l
lias · September 29, 2023

Oh maybe for items ordered online and send via Mail! I think for all furniture it might be alot

I am absolutely blown away at this! Amazing work! I am so looking forward to finally playing this game! <3

These are incredible! I love how Alex's room showcases just how realistic your space could look. From a junky individual trying to do better, I appreciate that room lol 😂

Oh I love the gothic style bedroom and please include skulls and skeletons in the future, that would also fit in with my idea of natural history museums and palaeontology career, which I would love to see in this game, if possible.

I'm looking forward to this game. I'd like to ask when this game will be released for public testing and whether I can put my name down for an beta test play? Thanks

T
Trishy · September 11, 2023

The game is currently in the early stages of development so we won't see the game for a couple of years. Super excited for it though and cant wait to see it grow into a fully fledged game!

Wow you guys are rockin it! I love all the different styles, especially on a limited catalog! I can't wait to get my hands on it myself, but I have patience because I know how important it is to Alex to get this right before release ;) You all have become an awesome team and am sure it kind of feels like family for many of you <3 Just keep doing what you all do, because I just know this is going to be the best simulation game ever ;) Hugs to you all <3

j'adore c'est coloré frais !

Nomi · September 9, 2023

I love how there's already such variety in the furniture, and the customization/placement tools really allow you to use the same piece for something completely different. I love the colors and patterns of the rugs especially! helps break up the flooring, which was the same for most of the rooms. i hope to see more wallpapers and floorings in the future :)

These are lovely! The sheer amount of feels and styles that can be made already look amazing! My personal favourite is Andrei's - for no reason in particular other than I'm Australian and I like cool, breezy looking patios and sitting rooms. I also loved the idea of what we'll be able to do with Alex's clutter. They all look great. PS: I did notice that in the last picture, the mirror reflection of the door window is a completely different colour to the actual door window. Door window green, mirror reflection whitish. A slight bug there?

f
frenchifries · September 10, 2023

The door window is transparent, so the green you're seeing is the grass outside. The reflection does not seem to be capturing the transparency, and therefore renders the window as an opaque bluish-white. I know reflections and transparency can be complicated in games (each separately, let alone together at the same time!) so this could be a graphical limitation, or something that is still being worked on.

Om so beautiful and amazing. Thank you guys again for sharing you guys process . Will you guys be doing big update soon or reveal on YouTube ? it’s been min!

t
theworstliv · September 8, 2023

These are all beautiful! I love the wardrobes in the first bedroom. They give the impression of having lots of storage without taking up too much space. And the toaster in the kitchen!!! What a great accessory. I think Andrei's is my favourite. Those floor tiles make me feel nostalgic, and it's like I can feel the warm breeze coming through the open window. Alex's stresses me out because it's what my apartment looks like right now :') but the advanced object placement is incredible. Even with limited selection everyone was able to execute very specific vibes for their rooms, which makes me really excited to see what's to come! Everyone's doing wonderful work. It's been such a pleasure watching this project grow over the years.

ladyteruki · September 8, 2023

The variety is surprising, I hadn't realized there were so many styles in the game already. Probably because we get a glimpse here and a glimpse there and don't get a clear idea of the amount of assets yet ! I find surprising how few builds played with colors, in particular WALL colors. Chloe's gothic bedroom is probably the most bold in terms of colors ; a lot of the others use a beige base, even if the other colors around it tend to vary. Is it because everyone is influenced by the same trends among Paradevs, or because the current UI somehow incentivizes beige as the default ? I'd be really curious to know. The fact that natural wood tones are also fairly prevalent for flooring probably makes it "worse". In a way it dampens the effect of having different building styles already available ; the recurring use of many similar colors from build to build doesn't enhance the diversity of possibilities, and it's certainly something I'd keep an eye on as we get closer to release, when variety will need to be showcased significantly. Regardless, these builds are cool. It's fun to look at everyone's style. Alex' messy room honestly is my favorite ; a lot of similar games tend to be too tidy, and knowing how crowded a room can be instead of constantly being magazine-ready comes as a relief. It just feels more lived-in. Hopefully we see more builds like this in the future ; they make more sense for a life simulation than pristine rooms imho :) The playtest trilogy is over, I wonder what we'll see next week !

changing the default for object is a good idea!

l
lias · September 8, 2023

Oh wow i Love the variety! I could totally see all of the different ways the items can be used! I also spotted a few objects that i know will suit my building asthestic 100% 👀 also i'm really excited seeing Alex's room because i'm a such a fan of cluttered and 'lived in' living spaces

His room actually looks like it hasn't been lived in just yet. A lot of items are in temporary places like spices all plopped on the table and heavy appliances parked near the door. A monitor is sitting temporarily on top of a dresser next to the TV. Shows a lot of the environmental storytelling potential.

Lealovescats · September 8, 2023

I am also really intrigued by that lace tablecloth that I keep seeing. It looks to me like you kan place it on all kinds of tables. I hope there will be a lot of different kinds of tablecloth. I love those little touches when building.

M
Megan Santucci · September 9, 2023

Yes, I thought that was just a pattern specific to the dining table it was on before (like a cool stenciled decoration?) but apparently it's a separate item that can be placed on different things??

L
Lealovescats · September 8, 2023

Love all the rooms. Especially the advanced placement. Putting cereal on top of the fridge is one of those weird things I have needed in my simulated life forever.

S
Sarah · September 8, 2023

I didn't even notice that! I'm so used to seeing my own fridge with cereal on top that it didn't even occur to me that of COURSE it's not common to do in video games. I love it even more now!

G
GXSimmer · September 8, 2023

Amazing work. These look so cozy and inviting.

S
Sarah · September 8, 2023

Ooh I love these! One thing I don't think I've seen yet (but may be planned) and use a lot of when playing Sims is curtains/drapes that are tied back around the middle. My childhood bedroom had curtains that I would always tie back to the sides, so I love making bedrooms that have the same type of curtains.

Z
Zedef · September 8, 2023

Love the open window in the kitchen (2nd pic) and are those also open windows in Andrei's living room or is that the style of window frame? Everything looks fab and although different types of style, it's clear this is all part of the same game and has its own unique style.

J
Jennifer Huber · September 8, 2023

I just gotta start with this. I have that EXACT rug from the gothic room in my house right now!! You are my new hero. Chloe! These rooms are so homey and relaxing that I cannot wait to play in all of them! And the clutter is AWESOME!!

J
Junio Jose · September 8, 2023

Hi Alex and team paralives🇧🇷👋 saudações do Brasil, this is so awesome!!! but I'm looking forward to being able to see a long video covering most of the animations and style building that has been worked on so far, especially the socialization animations, activities and needs. is there a timetable for this year to end a NEW long video introducing the live mode and the environment decoration mode?

B
BekkiRoss · September 8, 2023

C
CookieCake · September 8, 2023

Very cool builds! Your game always looks so cozy 😍 I was just missing some more bookshelves-styles or reading-related items for decorating :)

S
SimMattically · September 8, 2023

I love these rooms! And I love the different styles of furniture. One thing I would like to see is a room that uses interior lighting, not the global lighting that comes through the open ceiling. I'm interested to see how the Paralives style responds to that change.

L
Lane Brettschneider · September 8, 2023

same! really looking forward to seeing what the rooms are like once roofs/ceilings are implemented!

K
Key · September 8, 2023

These are all so nice! I love that many different styles and themes were able to be captured!

A
Aneta Miteva · September 8, 2023

I’m actually super excited about how much you can clutter the rooms and make every clutter look accidental and unique. I’m just wondering if it’s going to lag for slower computers when there’s too much stuff going on.

P
Pati Silence · September 8, 2023

They look cool! Hope for round beds with drape or just beds with drapes. There's so many objects I have in mind, hope to see them in updates or with mods.
