The Team Recreate Themselves in Paralives

I’m excited to kick off a sequence of three Patreon posts on the topic of the Paralives team playing and testing the game in its current work-in-progress state! Here’s the schedule of these posts:
🧔 August 25th, 2023 (today’s post):Paramaker: Each member of the team recreated themself in the game.
🌱 September 1st, 2023:Live mode: The team tested needs, skills, wants, relationships and more. I’ll be showcasing in-game scenes from that.
🔨 September 8th, 2023:Build mode: Everyone was given the task to furnish and decorate 3 rooms. We will be highlighting some amazing ones!

The Team Recreate Themselves in Paralives
Everyone was given some time to recreate their body, face and one of their everyday outfits.
🎯 Our goals with this playtest were:
👩 Is it easy to recreate your body and face? It went pretty well on that front!
👕 Are there some hairstyles or clothing items missing? Some were still missing but in most cases, Léa and Sonia already had the missing elements planned before the game’s release.
🏆 Aside from that, the playtest was a great moment for the team to catch up on all the new content Léa and Sonia have created so far!
To start off, here’s my own recreation:
I’m pretty happy with the result. I was able to recreate a typical outfit I could wear. I could have spent more time working on the face and making it more resembling though.
One thing that was missing for me in the Paramaker was a hairstyle close to mine. The closest I found was this one but the hair loss is more advanced than me in real life! Sonia and Léa have many many more hairstyles planned for the game’s launch and they showed me one that will be pretty close to my hair so I’m looking forward to it!
Recreating Jérémie took about 25 minutes. This GIF shows a part of the process in fast forward.

Aside from creating ourselves, as a second exercise, we asked the team to recreate someone famous. Here’s 3 of those that were made:

I hope you liked this showcase of characters we’ve made during our playtest! These won’t end up in the game at launch but they were pretty fun to make. We can’t wait to see what everyone will be creating with the Paramaker when the game launches! For now, we will be adding a lot more hairstyles, clothing items and accessories to make sure that almost everyone can recreate themselves and their outfit 👕

Hi, new patron here! This game looks great and you're all doing a wonderful job. Looking at the pictures of famous people as inspiration for characters, I thought of a suggestion. I know that creating your character is part of the fun, but if a player feels a bit "lazy", would it be possible to "upload" a picture and the game would automatically match the appearance of the character as much as possible? You would still have to make some fixes but this way you could save some time. Just a suggestion for an "easier" way to create the characters, the player could choose whether to use it or not

I really like long hairstyles on men! It looks very beautiful!
It’s fantastic for modern & versatile clothing. Personally I like making fantasy and alternative style outfits so not sure if that will be possible in the base games or if it will be up to mods!

the only thing that i see people may have an issue with is the cheeks all being the same regardless off cheekbone and face hollowness. darker faces kinda look flat
i think so too! It makes them all same-facey (a little) but that may be my face blindness lol

Love how the paramaker is getting testing on both original characters, celebrities, AND the classic "make myself and my friends." Players are sure to be doing all three. It's such a cool feeling when you try to make yourself or someone to know and you find a piece of clothing, hair style, tattoo, etc. that really fits! So it's great to know the team is thinking about that.

The hair loss thing you mentioned makes me wonder if it would be possible do to a slider for hair loss, and depending on what hairstyle depends on where the hair recedes from

They all look very individual, despite some repetitions in hairstyles, and I think one of the big reasons for this is all the different heights!! I'm very excited for that!

"Ok now for the second picture, everyone please do something crazy" ...It's gonna be hard to do something crazier than ghosting through the floor :P We have a winner ! It's very interesting to see how Paralives handles "realistic" features. I can't wait for this post to be unlocked, I have a friend who's a Mads fan and would really enjoy this comparison ! He's very recognizable, although it feels like his face doesn't have enough shadows in the upper part of the face. Are there no shadows when you crease/sink the eyes like that, or when the eyebrows are relatively low ? As a man getting close to his 60s, his skin looks suspiciously youthful. I know Hannibal probably ate a lot of collagen with all those bones, but still :P ...Next week is what I feel is the pièce de résistance !
Really great point about the shadows on Mads' face! The resemblance is definitely there but I couldn't figure out what was off. I wonder whether there's a way to tweak shadows to add more depth to the faces? Especially for older paras
Ohhhhh!!! i'm so excited for the variety. I really love the way that everyone looks distinct, even when using the same hairstyle etc. it's probably not a big deal to everyone, but i love creating just everyday people in my sims games, but i find myself a little sad that they end up looking similar or weird. But with your style it's really possible to create a variety to different faces and bodies, it's truly amazing! Also i'm glad that there's gonna be different styles of hair with levels of balding, that's def something I really miss in other games too! I can't wait to create a bunch of paras in the future. Also is it just me or is there alot of progress made recently? It's amazing to see that you guys are at a point where you can create characters, make them intertact with eachother and objects and have relationships. I honestly didn't think that development would come this far at the beginning of the year! Congratiolations on that, you can be proud of yourself!

Please put the celebrity look alikes in the game and give them goofy names because I love them and it would save me having to re-create Henry Cavill 🤣🤣🤣
Heck, Henry Cavill could easily be renamed to "Henry Clark" - keeping his first name the same makes him recognisable, and Clark is simply a Superman reference. (Also, my brain is suggesting "Henry Clark the Clerk", a mild-mannered, dashingly good-looking desk worker at the local office of governance.)
When you guys brought up creating your Paraselves, it made me think of how it go creating my Paraself when the time comes! I have microlocs (a style of locs) and would love to see the different types of locs created within the game. You have your traditional locs (what you think of when people talk about locs), microlocs, sisterlocs, freeform locs, and more. It would be nice if some of these could be implemented within the game so that others could also recreate their Paraselves! Just a suggestion 😊 thanks for reading!

I think it's extremely cute that you made yourself, It's very nice to see and a great way to test if your creation mode allows people to make themselves. While actors, models and such can be used they aren't super representative of average people. (I do still love the examples and let's be honest people recreate celebrities a lot in sims). As always, looking forward to this game. :)

Looks really great! The paramaker seems leaps and bounds above any equivalent. Only thing I've noticed is that nearly all male created characters seem to have that medium length hair with the dangling bit at the front, I'm hoping that there will be a good range of classic male hair styles when released

I was hoping the build test would be actually building rooms or houses, not just decorating them :( But it's okay. I just really like building in these types of games xD The recreated paras look great!
I feel like they can all build the house and each person gets to build a room and decorate it. Each person building an entire house would take too much time
