Malevolent Planet 2D - Long Flight Ahead
Hello! It's about time I return to my weekly transparent development roadmap plan, since it's a good way to keep myself consistent about what I'm supposed to be working on and what I end up working on.
To preface what I'm about to say, since last week I didn't feel great due to lack of sleep caused by my attempts to get back to my normal sleeping schedule, I did a full playthrough of the game from the very beginning:
The good news is that the game was working as expected for the most part, the animations were showing, etc.
The bad news, all the scenes/animations that were supposed to be displayed in the newest Patron content weren't displaying at all, about 3-4 scenes in total. Other than that there was one previous animation that was supposed to play during the samples gathering quest if you weren't careful with your sterile gloves conservation, but it wasn't.
Luckily, I managed to fix all of that and one other clause/situation as well that could make it impossible to get back to the ship during the samples gathering quest.
Now that we're past that, here's what I want to do this week.
Bugs:
It's not possible to save/load saves in WebGL and I'm trying to figure out why my implementation isn't working.
The first gameplay scene (where you enter the ISA up until the moment you go to sleep), I might need to rework it entirely because I made it back when I didn't know how to do anything in Unity and maybe it'd be better to make sure it uses the newest systems since players first play through this scene in a fresh playthrough.
The old ISA chibi sprites are still being used and I have to replace them with the new four directional ones.
Content:
Plan the content flow for this month's release.
Render at least one scene and try to get it animated this week as well.
Work on what happens in-game following what happens in the December release.
Rework the intro cutscene, giving more visuals rather than just text on a space background.
Release(s):
The Explorer & Scientist build should be updated today/tomorrow with the latest bugfixes. The Supporter build will get updated after this month's release is out, to point to today's changes for the Explorer & Scientist build.
Update the latest public release Wednesday-Friday with any bugfixes.
This might be all for now, but I'll return with an update on Friday regarding what I will have managed this week.
Hope you'll have a great week!
