Malevolent Planet 2.5D (Satire)

Hey! I've decided what I'm going to do for this month, or at least what my primary focuses are for the next release. Here's a short list:

  • Complete UI Overhaul. Already started working on this as you can see in the screenshot, although don't worry the camera view isn't going to be changed from 2D to 2.5D because the game's art wasn't built for that perspective.

  • Work on the Village Military HQ Content and/or an animation scene that can happen in a "shadier" area in the village. Both of those are currently in progress, but due to some big incoming changes to the look and feel to the game, there may be only time to make one of them "play right".

  • Add multiple new dialogues to the game for the shady area content and the military HQ content.

  • Work on cutscenes for the next content.

  • Develop new areas for the next content using a new way to draw tiles, including interior for the military HQ and the shady area.

  • Develop more content that uses HP, Energy, Lust as a gameplay tool even though those stats will only be affected during dialogues depending on choices for now.

  • Reenable the Inventory System when applicable in the ship. (this is secondary right now)

All the big incoming changes are meant to make the game feel much more refreshing and pleasant to play for a Steam Release next year, ranging from the UI to lighting in different scenes (with a primary focus on the newest gameplay scenes). This month those changes will already be visible in the UI, which is going to look much better than it did before.

I'm going to make a Steam store page this month or next month in the hope that there will be people who will wishlist it ahead of the release time, which will be when the City/the Hub content ends and everything up to that point is polished 💯🧹.

I think I forgot to add a few things I want to do for this month's release, but I hope it's obvious that the work I have planned is for the long-term health of the game, my primary goal is to make all the new content fun and the second most important thing is to eliminate any jankiness so that by May we will have a game that actually deserves a Steam release and a sequel for the spaceflight era.

The sequel is necessary because what we have right now is difficult to maintain/improve too much, for example if it was possible I would have added bigger/more detailed chibis that can even have animations with each other instead of pixel art because I'm not sure pixel art is my expertise.

Now this became longer than I planned it to be, so I'll stop here. Thank you for reading and for your support!
