More Village Progress

Hey! I've not slept very well last night, so I'll try to focus on the tasks I was supposed to work on this week. Here they are, in order:

  • Finish and make the X-ray scene playable in the actual game. ๐Ÿค” This has actually become a new task, because on a fresh look this week it became obvious I was a bit too ambitious with trying to learn Spine and also do a nice looking animation all at the same time, so I tried different features to learn and the unfortunate side effect was I neglected some things. However, a lot of work was done to fix things and it looks much better now, however this didn't leave me enough time to implement it in the game so that'll be done next week.

  • Prepare NPC positions and routines in the outdoors area of the village. โœ… We have a lot of NPCs in the Intro sequence of the Village, I have positioned them and gave them all dialogues and to some of them some cutscenes, but them walking around randomly and talking to themselves in the form of speech bubbles as part of routines I haven't yet implemented, so that'll be part of the beauttification process next week I hope.

  • Design and implement in the game the interior of the Council building, which will be your first target when you reach the Village before the stamps gathering quest begins. โŒ› I was about to do that today, but when opening the PSB before importing it into Unity the realization occurred that there are a few new sprites that could add to the interior so there was a bit of work done on that today and on Monday I'll import all the interior sprites (includes Village interior sprites as well)

  • Design and implement in the game the Council leaders in the Council building, four aliens, amongst which one is a female Likurieris. โŒ› Part of the above task.

  • Implement the dialogues and the gameplay sequence that leads you from the ship to the Village. โœ… Did this and way more, I've added all the intro dialogues, made some cutscenes, played a bit with some QoL improvements for dialogues such as finding the names of characters after you talk to them and showing a placeholder before that. I hope it'll add to the immersion.

So next week there'll be plenty of work left but I'm confident we can manage the release on Friday as planned, leaving plenty of time by the end of the month for any bugfixes that may be necessary. I'll also need to put this July build on itch since the latest "purchaseable" build on itch is pretty old.

Have a nice weekend!
