Malevolent Planet 2D - The Race is On
Hello! I hope you all had a pleasant week. Mine was pretty busy and I was away from my PC for a bit, so I did my best to not be delayed all things considered.
We have had two polls and I've already started making changes regarding the results of one of the polls, particularly, the way we import textures in the game. By default Unity imports them using a method that can create blurriness in an attempt to smoothen the textures, so I've switched to another import method and we'll see in the May build if it's actually better.
Otherwise, in order to have the release ready for this week, here are my lists:
Bugs:
Currently I'm not really aware of bugs, but due to my work on the relationship system and the popup system it's possible there are a few.
Content (Art):
Reimport all textures in the game (non UI/dialogue avatars related) using the sharper import method.
Content (Sounds):
I haven't yet added sounds to all the animations in the game. I think about 80% of the animations have sounds, so I hope I'll manage the rest. They're a bit more difficult because they are female NPC characters and they have to use different sounds from the main character.
Content (Writing):
I need to write the dialogues for what happens if you don't actually end up in the NSFW branch/plot.
I need to write the dialogue that plays in your room (the captain's cabin) after the shower scenes play out.
Content (Gameplay):
I need to develop the flow that returns you to your bedroom from both branches, the relatively SFW and the NSFW one.
Mechanics:
I'd like to, but I'm not sure if I'll manage, to implement a quick roll/dice system where if you pick the choice that tries to get you out of the NSFW branch there'll be a chance you may succeed or fail. At a basic/simplified level this is doable, but due to my ambitions to use your character's stats to influence the roll dice result it's unknown if I'll manage.
Release(s):
In the best case scenario, I'd like to release the The Mist (May Content) build for Scientist/Explorer patrons this on Wednesday, 29th of May.
Likewise, I'd like to release the Waterloo (April Content) for Supporter patrons on Wednesday, 29th of May.
If I manage this, that'll give us two days of possible testing/bugfixes in case a new build will be needed on Friday, 31st of May.
That's all for today I think in terms of planning, have a great week!
