Malevolent Planet 2D - ๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŽญ

Hello! This week was a bit tough for me, sleep was hard to find... But at least there was some work done.

Bugs:

  • Gallery Issue when some scenes wouldn't play and you'd only see the normal map while trying to view some animations in the gallery. Fixed โœ…, it was happening only on some ISA Sanitation Scenes.

  • You could walk out of the waterfall area on Gaia. Fixed โœ…, now there are boundaries on multiple sides to prevent walking into "nothingness".

Content:

  • Work on possible waterfall scenes, followed maybe by the shower scene in the ship. โœ… 2 Scenes were drawn, for this sequence which is supposed to increase friendship with Melissa depending on the choice you may pick here which would eventually lead to unlocking more scenes with her later, Hades-style a bit. This is to gauge player interest, because if you pick choices that involve content with Melissa that would also naturally lead to more "unlockable" scenes with Melissa.

  • If there's time, write dialogues / the flow that advances content from arrival back to the waterfall to being back on the ship. โŒ›I actually started working on this, but I had a bug to deal with from one of the assets I'm using and while I did manage to fix that bug, I made just enough progress with the dialogues to open the "path" for the 2 scenes from above.

Community Feedback:

  • A poll regarding an explorable alien village map. โœ…

Here are the results from that poll. I will reveal more details about what my upcoming plans are for the map's content, but there seems to be enough interest and I think you would also like to be able to roam around a bit and accidentally unlock some content. The idea is that maybe we can finish Mag'nath's plot in one run by doing a bunch of side quests with the aliens in the village, similar to Mass Effect in the way that those side quests would have a small impact on the main story regarding the village.

There were some ideas this week to try animating a new shower scene in the waterfall in Spine to learn Spine (mesh deformation is something Unity doesn't give me), but it wasn't possible due to time constraints and I think the scene as it is is good enough for now, and we can try the Spine experiment later. The goal would be to have more pleasant looking animations, I'm very severely limited by the fact that Unity doesn't allow you to deform meshes in animations like Live2D or Spine can.

That was about it for this week, thanks a lot for your support and have a nice weekend!
