And we are back, dear readers! Thank you very much indeed for waiting. Chapters are back to normal, the 3-1 publishing schedule resumes as usual! As for the chapter itself, ohohoho, things have gotten even more out of hand than I expected (in a good way), and I think arc 5 might end up a bit longer than originally planned, though I'm not yet sure by how much. We'll have to wait and see. Octavia really wishes this nightmare would end, but she's afraid the waking world might be even worse.
Also! This week, I have some fanart to share, from over on the discord server! Hearts Aflame (by Cera!) is a very fiery rendition of Scarlet Edge, with a very interesting variation on her magical girl outfit. I have also updated the memes page with a dozen or so new additions, some of which are ... well, you'll see, if you find that kind of thing amusing!

Patreon automatically filtered/blocked two comments on this post; I'm 99% certain I had the Comment Auto-Moderation setting turned off, so it must have been turned back on automatically sometime recently. I've turned it off again, but despite scouring patreon's support pages and even asking around among other creators, there doesn't appear to be any way to actually restore the blocked comments, which is very irritating. I can't even reply to them. Literally less functionality than wordpress.

I wanted to write something more detailed here, but I realized that it's just way too long, so I will just shorten it by saying: I really like Octavia as the MC; she is something different and really pulls me in with her intense emotions. I see some really strong correlations between her and Heather, like they have similar templates that have undergone the same types of hardships, but in such different ways that it moulded them into two very different beings.
Thank you so much! I'm really enjoying writing Octavia, her POV and prose voice is really fun, she keeps surprising me with angles I don't expect, and she is very intense. You're right about the parallels with Heather, too; Octavia is, in some ways, drawing on some of the same root themes, or perhaps my overriding thematic obsessions, just from a very different direction and with very different results.

Great chapter! Loved the horror movie elements and Occy finally punched her crazy bitch ex in the face! They are going to transpose right into the middle of the nightmare aren’t they? What's terrifying is that even though I know willow is lying some parts of what she said registered as sweet and vulnerable to me. I've said it before, but something about Octavia escaping from her abusive relationship with willow really hits close to home for me. It's so easy to want to believe willow means what she says x.x
Thank you very much indeed; I have very much based this dynamic on real life, drawn from the behaviours and self-justifications of real abusers and how they act toward their victims. Much of what Willow says does horrifyingly enough read as real; she's lying to herself first, then feeding those lies to Octavia. And she makes us (and Occy) want to believe. Very insidious. I'm glad if this hits close to home for anybody, if it can be cathartic.
