Hello everybody; I’ll try to keep this short.

The June 6th Maidens of the Fall chapter will be delayed by one week; Maidens will resume as normal on the 13th of June. This applies to both the public and patreon chapters.

My apologies for this. I haven’t had to delay a chapter in quite a while; the 3-1 schedule has worked very very well to provide a regular buffer, to make sure that interruptions, emergencies, and external problems do not disrupt my publishing schedule, the threat of which happens more often than I let on. However, a unique set of recent circumstances has rather overwhelmed me.

Without getting into the details, an elderly close relative of mine has passed away after a rather difficult final illness. I need to be there for some of my family, help with arrangements, and attend a funeral.

This happened a few weeks ago. I’ve been working a little slower than usual during all this, but my existing buffer and the previous break week allowed me to publish the last couple of chapters to my satisfaction. This current chapter is technically finished, but I’ve been editing it under considerable mental strain, and I’m very unhappy with it. Under any other circumstances I would have more than enough time to put the whole thing through another one or two editing passes before Saturday, no problem. But very shortly I will attending said funeral, and I don’t trust myself to edit a semi-functional chapter right after that, not to even mention the necessary travel I’m about to do. Rather than publish a flawed chapter, I’m throwing in the towel on this one; I would rather sacrifice a tiny amount of regularity for the sake of quality than the other way around. I should probably have made this decision last week, just accepted that it’s not possible right now, but I was very reluctant to call this delay only one week after a regularly scheduled break. I even worked on my regular day off, perhaps unwisely, just to try to get ahead. But, hey, better late than never.
