The Speed Rumbler
(español abajo)
I started on Patreon 2 years ago, after my Ghosts'n Goblins core was ported to MiSTer. When I saw the coverage that Smokemonster made for it on his YT channel, I thought it was worth developing more systems. Two years later, I have published a ton of stuff: individual chip modules, single arcade boards and multi-game arcades. And all this has been possible because of your continuous support. This week we hit the 2000 patron count. It is an incredible milestone that justifies spending more and more time in all aspects of the systems: from initial development to maintenance and fidelity checks.
To celebrate this milestone, I have prepared a public core: Capcom's The Speed Rumbler. This title follows the hardware tradition of 8-bit Capcom games, with 16-colour sprites and tiles and a 4-colour character layer. Sounds is produced by a 2xYM2203 pack, like in Ghosts'n Goblins or Tiger Road. The screen resolution is a rarety: 352x240. I think it is the only Capcom title with such a resolution.
I have the board for the game, so I have been able to measure many things to verify my assumptions. However, I would still like to run some speed checks the same way Grego2d and I made for the CPS1 board.
The core still has a couple of tiny problems, but I want to do a direct public release this time.
Get the core from jtbin or by running the update_all tool.
NB: There will be a second Patreon post today with more games for CPS2.

nice one
Thank you very much!
nice !
Thank you for this little, but big effort, arcade game release, another integral part of Capcom arcade history and a fun little title indeed. ❤️💚💙😁👍
Thank you very much jose for all your continued hard work. Jose works so hard to give us new games weekly. Lets all show some appreciation!
Thank you for this. Excited to play it! :)
lol, I don't know what I'm doing 😅 Did the cab have a wheel for controlling the car? [edit] nope, it had a regular stick!
Check out F1-Dream too
Thank you Jose, great work as always ;).
GREAT game - HA! - never tried this before but it's fun :)
This surprise is still not up to what you produce every Friday. I 'm a little disappointed. Thank you anyway !
did you read the entire post?
Please add flip and V/H position on CRT
Those features are already in the core. Look for them in the OSD.
Ok it works now
Looks like the problem is here it downloaded the rbf to Arcade folder instead of Arcade/cores Downloading jtrumble_20210416.rbf to /media/fat/_Arcade/jtrumble_20210416.rbf
I copied the MRA to the wrong place. I've added some logic to my tools to prevent this from happening again
Works great now! Congrats on reaching the 2000 mark!
Congrats ! Let’s keep the good work !
The primary MRA has been moved to the releases folder with the RBF file now. Try updating again and it should work.
Yup, not working for me either...
I ran update all and the main mra file (The Speed Rumbler (set 1).mra) doesn't download.(Script only downloads the alternate mra files)
Also, it didn't download the rbf file. I ran the script a few times.
Congrats for your +2k patrons! Thanks for making lots of people's dreams possible.
Yes Dave, I have got the same issue. Maybe someone can fix it soon
Well games are on the alternative folder but won’t start
Yeah I can find them in the "Region- World" folder, but clicking them does nothing
Congrats on the 2000 mark hit, I am glad you find this rewarding enough to spread the joy around for everyone! Great work!
Holy cow! 2000 Patreons? Only so few members? *coughcough* Glad that I'm a member since 2 years now. So much fantastic work, so many fantastic cores. Love!
I remember you pretty much from day 1. Thank you!
it doesn't work to me on a update_all
Yeah I just ran update_all and it looked like it grabbed something when it got to the Jotego part, but I can't find the game in the arcade cores
Amazing as always :)
Thank you for your continued dedication to the platform and the community!
Beautiful little game
Always greatly appreciated sir! Thanks so much! Keep up the great work!
You are absolutely amazing! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I think I have a small man crush on you... ;)
