The next video is running late (and doesn’t yet exist)

Just a quick note to say that this last week has been a productivity write off so I’ll only be startling work on the next video in the morning.

I was sick for a few days, then I needed to visit someone in hospital and finally I had to build a shed. You’ll appreciate that none of this involved pressing record on a camera, therefore I’m starting from scratch tomorrow.

I’m aiming for a shorter video so that I’ll have something to share sooner rather than later.

Sorry about this, it’s just that sometimes life gets in the way. It’s when death gets in the way that productivity takes a real nosedive though. (Fortunately this is not the case this time).

That’s it for the moment, as always thanks for reading.

EDIT - Just to clarify, no one I know has died this week - however it’s always a looming spectre. I should remember that my sometimes morbid sense of humor (inherited from my mother) doesn’t always travel.

You building a shed would have been classic Mat fodder. You missed out on a great video there Mat. Tag line could have been, " Man builds shed." Was it a vintage shed? 🤣🤣

On the sharp gf9191. Speaking to my hifi guru mate, hesndone a few of these and is sure that the problem with the wow and flutter is down to the capstan rubber tube not being right (the tubing used isn't round enough and may be rubbing on the capstan surround) he's sent me a link to the 'right' bits on the eBay! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284696323087?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=s0xNovMGSc2&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=lHMF6nmDTN2&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY hope that helps. He certainly sorted out my gf9090. The w+f is negligible. Cheers and thanks for all you do!

Noodles in the shed for the next Patreon update then me thinks!!

Shed construction, certainly a content opportunity there 😁. Take care, do what you need to do for health, friends and family. We will still be here

G
Gadgetonomy · September 16, 2024

I won't shed any tears this time! You deserve a break.

V
Vladimir Vojnović · September 16, 2024

Make a shed video, pls

D
Daniel Pritchard · September 16, 2024

Mat, we are always hoping you are taking sufficient time to care for your own needs and mental health - it’s frankly good for the channel when you are enjoying yourself, and you can’t have that without some balance. Wishing for the best for you and your loved ones.

Thank you for the heads up. :)

You beat me to it! :-(

I guess Mat didn't purchase from solidsheds.com, this time. 😲 [sorry, but it had to be done.. I hope someone gets the reference]

Was that the radio ad? "Great selection, free erection" 😅. That jingle lives in my head rent free!

Thanks for shedding some light on the situation.

Well, I think we all know what a shed can take out of a man.

L
Lee Lavery · September 15, 2024

But what can a man take out of a shed?

N
Niallquinn · September 15, 2024

You don't need to justify it mate, just look after your family - things like bereavements take time. With all the content you spoil us with, you take as long as you want, I do videos about trains, and when realife stuff comes into play, you've just got to put them on a backburner. And play Spectrum and 64 games and demos!

A
Amro · September 15, 2024

Don’t worry about it Mat. You’re entitled to be late no matter the cause. I’m sorry for your loss. 💔

evistre · September 15, 2024

Big hugs - take your time :)

R
Raul Ramos · September 15, 2024

No apologies! It's good that life gets in the way. Please take care

S
Sergio Meyer · September 15, 2024

Please don't apologize! Life is far more important. I'd rather we have a life-balanced Matt instead of a stressed out Matt - it makes for better videos :)

C
Chris Horry · September 15, 2024

[Edit: I previously wrote "I'm sorry for your loss" but you updated to say you didn't lose anyone, which is always comforting to know]. I stand by the second part about taking all the time you need to do whatever mental health things you need to take care of yourself.

I'm just here to join the chorus of those who would have loved seeing you build a shed! Beside that, no need to apologise for skipping a week!

G
Grace Robbins · September 15, 2024

Unpopular opinion: I'd rather not see Mat & co-builder create a shed. I'd rather see a group of us patrons build him a kick-ass studio shed. 😅

J
Justin · September 15, 2024

Your confidence with us using power tools and not ending up with a collapsible death trap for Mat is as admirable as it is worrisome, Grace. 😂

J
Jim · September 15, 2024

Even the GOAT of tech YouTube should take a break now and then. Hope the shed stays upright (mine hasn't).

S
Steven O'Brien · September 15, 2024

We were robbed of a "Techmoan builds a shed" video!

A
Alejandroteken · September 15, 2024

I would have love to see you building a shed, any content from you is good content

R
Rick McCauley · September 15, 2024

I am seriously considering putting up a small steel shed, would like to have seen your take on it. Feel better brother.

D
Duncan · September 15, 2024

Go for at least one size up from what you think you need. I started thinking about a 4ft x 3ft Ketter plastic shed. Then I actually bought a 6ft x 4ft wooden shed. Now I have put stuff in there I wish I had gone for a larger size.

R
Rick McCauley · September 15, 2024

Shed video or it never happened. 😸

G
GraphicsMonkey · September 15, 2024

Cheers for letting us know and hope it goes well and you're feeling better... And it's a hit! If in doubt buy 50 minidisc players and do a video again ;)

M
Mark Thomas · September 15, 2024

Thanks for the update but not a problem - Life provides challenges for all of us

A
Alistair Boyer · September 15, 2024

Looking forward to the video whenever it arrives!

M
Mark Hesse · September 15, 2024

Take care Mat, but I can't help thinking that a video of you building a shed could be a real winner!😀

G
Grant Harris · September 15, 2024

Oh… I was looking to the Techmoan building a shed video :(

D
David Parker · September 15, 2024

Love having weekly videos, but life happens!

D
David Peaker · September 15, 2024

I have never expected a video each week, so take your time and look after yourself.

M
Martin Porcheron · September 15, 2024

I hope the shed build wasn’t an urgent thing…I had to do some emergency repairs this week following last week’s wind. (I came out last week to find my shed door at the other end of the garden!). Take care and hope you’re feeling better :)

G
Grace Robbins · September 15, 2024

Just as long as you never fall into my levels of malaise within the past month... you'll be in good shape. It's rough having little motivation or enthusiasm for life, so I've been forcing myself to do things. I admire you because you can have catch-up days/weeks to recoup if you need to. Remember we're all on your side and rooting for you. Be good to you 🤍.

L
Lee Lavery · September 15, 2024

Malaise is rubbish, isn't it? Hope you're doing ok

M
Michiel Dost · September 15, 2024

a

No problem , thanks for th heads up . Hope you are better

C
Chris Palin · September 15, 2024

I've never known anyone so honest..... What about the dog ate the sd card or the computer crashed during editing ....... I think we all look forward to your video's Mat, but equally we all respect real life happens. All the Best !! 👍

E
Esteban Maroto · September 15, 2024

Hope you are better, and the person you visited in the hospital too. Take care.

A
Arjan Kooij · September 15, 2024

Take it easy Mat. There’s way more important things in life than feeling some form of obligation to put out videos on a specific schedule. I (and I think the rest of us) really don’t mind if it takes a week, two weeks, three weeks or more for a new video.

J
Johan Eriksson · September 15, 2024

No problem at all, Mat. Life happens sometimes.

J
J.R. Locke · September 15, 2024

No need to apologize. I hope you're feeling better and your friend has a speedy recovery.

S
Steve Bailey · September 15, 2024

No video on building the shed? As someone who has neglected to fix his fence for the past year, you have my sympathy! Videos come when videos come, don't worry about it. We're always happy to wait, life needs to come first.

M
Mark callaghan · September 15, 2024

Not a problem Matt. Maybe you could have filmed the shed build ?…..😉

T
Techmoan · September 15, 2024

It was a two person job and the other person wouldn’t want to be on camera sweating in a back garden.
