Blastbeetle Powder

Wondrous item, rare

This volatile black powder is made from alchemically processed fire beetles. It comes in a sealed bottle or jar with 1d4 + 1 pinches of powder in it when found. When you cast either the fireball or delayed blast fireball spell, you can use a pinch of the powder as an optional material component for the spell. When you do, any creature within 10 feet of the chosen point is also deafened for 1d4 rounds, and the explosion's area is magically illuminated for the same duration. While illuminated in this way, the area sheds bright light in a 10-foot radius centered on the chosen point and dim light for an additional 10 feet. In addition, a creature that fails the saving throw against the spell is also thrown up to 10 feet away from the center of the blast and knocked prone.

"You said that stuff is volatile?"
"Yeah. Nasty stuff."
"I don't doubt it. That said, I think seeing you smear it in bat guano is worse."
"Magic's gross. I won't apologize for it, but I sympathize. My hands smell insane."
