Prayer Book of Protection
Wondrous item, uncommon
This tattered old prayer book has a collection of five well-worn prayers inside. Each prayer is associated with a tenet and imbued with unshakable faith.
Whenever you cast the shield of faith spell while this book is on your person, you can speak one of its prayers aloud as part of the verbal component for the spell; doing so also allows you to use the page as the spell's material component. When you do, you invoke that tenet's benefits and grant the target of the spell its associated effects, which last for the duration of the spell. Once a tenet has been invoked in this way, that tenet's page is turned to ash and destroyed, and it can't be invoked from the prayer book again.
Devotion. Fiends and undead have disadvantage on the first attack roll they make against the target on each of their turns.
Fortitude. The target has advantage on Constitution saving throws.
Radiance. The target sheds bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet. Whenever a creature within 5 feet of the target misses it with an attack, the attacker automatically takes 5 radiant damage.
Swiftness. The target's speed is increased by 10 feet.
Will. The target has advantage on saving throws against being charmed, frightened, or stunned.
To my faith that sustains and shields me, I offer this plea:
May my Devotion hold strong even when those lost to darkness are arrayed against me,
my Fortitude keep my focus sharp and body hale and hearty,
my Radiance shine such that even foes cannot deny the brilliance of my light,
my Swiftness allow no soul to be lost because they fell beyond my reach,
and my Will ensure I shall never bow to those who seek to cow or tempt me.
