Silken Needle

Weapon (rapier or shortsword), very rare (requires attunement)

This weapon's handle and guard are made of magical, hardened spider silk. You gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. While attuned to it, you're also considered proficient with weaver's tools.

The sword has 8 charges for the following properties. It regains 1d4 + 4 expended charges daily at dawn.

Entangle. When you hit a Large or smaller creature with this weapon, you can expend 2 of its charges to force that creature to make a DC 16 Strength or Dexterity saving throw (your choice each time). On a failed save, the creature becomes restrained by a tangle of magical web for 1 minute. A creature can use its action to make a DC 16 Strength (Athletics) check, freeing itself or another creature within its reach that is restrained in this way on a success.

Spider Climb. While holding the weapon, you can use a bonus action to expend 2 of its charges to cast the spider climb spell from it, targeting only yourself. While affected by this version of the spell, you ignore movement restrictions caused by webbing and automatically succeed on saving throws against web-based effects.

Thread Dash. You can use a bonus action to expend 1 of the weapon's charges to throw the weapon at a target that you can see within 30 feet of you. The target can be a creature, an object, or a point on a solid surface. If the target is a creature, make a ranged weapon attack against it using the sword; you're proficient with this attack, and on a miss, this effect fails. Otherwise, you're then pulled by a magical thread to an unoccupied space within 5 feet of the target that is directly between you and the target; a creature hit in this way also takes the weapon's damage as normal. Regardless, the weapon is then returned to your open hand by the thread. This movement doesn't provoke opportunity attacks.

The touch of silk is unlike any other.
