Asclepian Staff

Staff, legendary (requires attunement by a bard, cleric, druid, paladin, or ranger)

This wooden staff cradles a translucent orb at its top. While attuned to this staff, you have proficiency in the Medicine skill, and your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make with it. This staff can be wielded as a magic quarterstaff that grants a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it.

The staff has 16 charges for the following properties. It regains 2d6 + 4 expended charges daily at dawn. If you roll a 1 on both d6s, the staff regains all expended charges.

Spells. While holding the staff, you can expend some of its charges to cast one of the following spells from it, using the spell's normal casting time and your spell attack bonus and spellcasting ability modifier: acid arrow (2 charges), cure wounds (1 charge per spell level, up to 9th), death ward (4 charges), heal (6 charges), lesser restoration (2 charges), mass cure wounds (5 charges), regenerate (7 charges), or warding bond (2 charges).

You can also use an action to cast one of the following spells from the staff without using any charges: animal friendship (snakes only), detect poison and disease, poison spray, or spare the dying.

Staff of the Python. This staff also functions as a staff of the python. This version of the staff's giant constrictor snake uses your spell save DC for its armor class and your spell attack bonus for its attack rolls, and it has a bonus to all saving throws equal to your spellcasting ability modifier. If the giant constrictor snake is reduced to 0 hit points while the staff is transformed, it immediately reverts to its staff form, and this property can't be used again until the next dawn. When you mentally command the snake, you can choose for it to use its action to cast any of the staff's spells on its turn, requiring no components; doing so expends charges and uses your spell attack bonus and spellcasting ability modifier as normal.

Venomous Strike. When you hit a creature with this staff or when the transformed giant constrictor snake hits a creature with its bite, you can expend 1 of the staff's charges to deal an extra 2d6 acid or poison damage (your choice). If either of these extra damage dice roll a 6, or if both dice roll a 1, the target must also succeed on a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC or become poisoned until the end of your next turn, or the snake's next turn if it made the attack.

Civilization is only as strong as its weakest and most disenfranchised. Let us remember that we are all part of the same organism, and we must work together to keep ourselves alive and well, lest we realize only too late that we have bitten our own tail.

Awesome! Love that this is both useful healing and being used offensively. Not sure if you meant to only have 5 files, normally there are 6??? Also hate to be that guy, but the caduceus is actually based on the Staff of Hermes (aka Mercury) who besides being the messenger god was also a god of boundaries (so probably life/death is probably how they related him to medicine as well). The Rod of Asclepius is a separate thing, though it and the other similar symbols like it probably all come from a much older common belief, so are still all sort of related. Awesome item ❤️

I fixed the files! Forgot the digital card :P I also did know about the caduceus! That's why I met in the middle with a *staff* of asclepius, instead of the rod. The two symbols are too inextricably linked at this point that I opted for a midway point in the design.
