POV: You're at the Favonius Resort Bar

I'd like to firstly thank everyone who came to my first ever art booth at Comic Fiesta 2025 - Kuala Lumpur!

I just wanted to say you guys made my day. Genuinely.

I had my initial doubts in the past couple months about the whole thing. Will people actually come over to see me and support me in my little endeavors? Do people even cared? Is it even worth doing it for a random nobody like me? Thankfully, it is.

A couple online fans and friends flew all the way from across the oceans and mountainous jungles to visit Malaysia for the first time despite the great risks that came with it. I greeted them personally at the airport and met them for the first time. Together, we spent our times and socializing with one another as we anticipated for the event. I also invited them to a special event where I initially requested a hotel's band to play the UAF theme for us.

The hotel's name is Mandarin Oriental Hotel, located next to the KLCC. They obliged my request and played it by complete surprise upon our arrival. Imagine how I feel when I heard the Queen's Hope for the first time in a live environment. In a bar no less! For a brief moment there, I was fully immersed. I feel like I was there, at Favonius, somewhere in the Sector. Listening to the Queen's theme being played with such grace and skillful improvisation. They never had the time to practice, they relied on the few printed copies of the theme to play but they never failed.

It was.. amazing. I wish I could describe how I feel at the moment but let's just say.. It was magical.

The booth itself was hastily prepared, it was decided on a whim that we're not going to waste this opportunity as I couldn't refund the booth due to sudden cancellation from my booth partner. Instead, I was entrusted with his Ace Combat merchandises to sell alongside my homebrew UAF contents.

Imagine my surprise when a lot of people actually came for both UAF and Ace Combat. There's even some War Thunder players too! I greeted and talked with them all with great passion and enthusiasm. I showed and talked to them as much as I could to the point of repeatedly causing human traffic jam because so many people have gathered to see what's all the fuss about.

There are so many favorite moments of mine but I'll definitely highlight a couple of them.

It started with one passionate fan who came and participated on the event just for me and the UAF. I asked him the same questions just like everyone else. He's here for the ships, aesthetics, gameplay fun and most importantly - semibreves! We're having good laughs together as we started talking about the game and the mod when a few more joined in to listen. Once enough have arrived, we pulled out a laptop to provide an exclusive preview on the update that we've been working on. Unfortunately it didn't last long because we don't have a mouse to play Starsector playfully - not to mention we created a traffic jam with how people gathered around me. So it didn't last long. We bid our farewells for now after trading kind words and they supported me by buying merchandises from the booth. They said they will return the next day.

One day later, they returned at the nick of time. We're free enough to have enough time and energy to go and hang out. So I kindly invited two of them to a local bar and have a drink together. I showed them the mod update again after getting a table for all of us. ( my treat! ) For two hours, we're talking non-stop and showing one piece of the update after another. Needless to say, they're both really excited about the things to expect in the update;

New carriers, new fighter reworks, new portraits, the Lynx reveal, and most importantly the new Nueko Core reveal and so much more!

They took their turns on flying the Lynx in the special mission that Mayu developed for the special occasion. For a brief moment there, we were roleplaying as a team of Auroran representatives and test pilots together. Unfortunately, time passes so quickly when we're having so much fun together. So eventually, we bid our good byes again and thanked each other for the special moment.

Did you guys know that we somehow managed to sold out all of Taufan II's artwork in 3A size? It was completely unexpected even to our neighbor who is a skillful artist who draws mecha and so much more.

Once again, from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you for re-igniting the fire of passion in my dimming spirit. It was such an awesome one-of-a-lifetime experience to interact with so many of you. Even the ones who I somehow managed to engage in interesting topics. Regardless of who you are, and what you think of me.

Thank you sincerely. I will do my best to keep going and deliver the mod that you guys wanted to play and experience. The UAF will not falter so long as things are going to be alright. Remember, the release day of the patch is 22nd February 2026. Please look forward to it!

See you if I ever decided to make a booth again,

Yours truly,

CY
