Episode 31 | Stuck In Sardinian Paradise

Hello all fellow supporting Winded Voyagers!

As I wait another few days to find out if I'm approved for my Swiss ocean license by the governing authorities, I can relive some of the moments of the 1000M journey that was required to get the license. And when sailing, sometimes you just have to wait. This was the case in Sardinia. Force 7+ Beaufort scale winds were forecasted for the next three days. And according to our skipper, vessels are not recommended to sail out of port in these conditions. And if you do and shit happens, your insurance will not cover your ass, let alone your craft. If you're already out, it's best you get into shelter.

We didn't mind being stuck in Villasimius on the very southern tip of Sardinia. Apart from the wind, the weather was warm, the Italian atmosphere delicious and we were not the only ones stuck in the marina. It just happens our next boat neighbors were two lovely American women. They helped us eat tuna, told stories and we ended up playing poker and Cards Against Humanity. I gotta say that Americans are great fun and real easy to befriend. Not always the case with my Swiss compatriots.

Our journey continued up the east coast of Sardinia for another couple of days. We got to see lots of the coast and wished we could stop and anchor along the way. Visit small cities and beaches. But we were on a schedule. We did anchor on the northern coast near Olbia next to two picturesque islands to rest up for the continuation of our Winded Voyage.

Hope you enjoy and I again thank you for your support.

Alex.

Hi Dennis. Thanks so much for your kind messages every week. I've been reliving our 1000M journey as I edit each episode from my little landlocked country. Feels good to see the swaying of the sea, but I miss the actual feel of it. I'm nearly ready to go off on future adventures and waiting for the Swiss authorities to give me the final go and license. They told me the end of this week. It's been since January that I began with classes and these last few days are long yet good to finailze my actual departure. To really untie the lines. Hopefully next week I'll have good news in the form of my license. Again thank you and as we say in French, Bon Vent. Alex
