Oh man I got an S Cane for last christmas and I don't know what the hell to do with it, I don't believe in it, I look at it with total cynicism. I want to believe tho.
believe
I feel the “many ways to be with people” in my soul. Am I surrounded by loving if occasionally boring family- yes. Do I have super nerdy friends across the state that I call fairly regularly? Also yes. Does the call actually replace playing an hours long board game with them, or watching some bizarre movie together? In no way whatsoever.
I didn't just need to hear these words... watching, listening; this is like refeeding syndrome for my mental health. I needed to imbibe it, like- I needed to transcribe this, and then I need to eat the paper it is written on. I don't know how the internet man crawled into my head and read me for my own mental filth. You have synthesized, articulated, and disseminated, how to make my brain space a more hospitable space. For that, Ian, Thank You.
Uhhhhhhh boy. I think this video will be important for me, whenever it's completed. Take all the time you need to make it. In the meantime - I have never heard of brain-spotting, gonna look that up now.
A placebo can still work even though you know it's a placebo.
welp.
I agree with some of the other comments so far that this work feels important, effective, and welcome to take as much time as it needs, and as much time as *you* need. Thank you for these videos.
Is it bad that I'm happy there will be more after January 2?
Idk if this somatic thing is up to much, but... Bach's Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major doesn't feel so much like "smart music" when it comes on as the encore immediately following Lutoslawski's Cello Concerto. Instead it feels like aftercare: gentle, empathetic, sincere, not even a little bit pretentious, *exactly* what you need in that moment to come down from the intense combination high of adrenaline and cortisol and endorphins. I wonder if what you're describing here is maybe a bit like that?
These videos have easily been some of my favorite shit you have made - however long that takes - I'm waiting
Let the work be done when it's done 💜
