School of Lust v0.3 Progress Report #2 (August)
Hi everyone!
First of all, we would like to thank all of you who have voted (and replied) on the poll in the previous progress report. It's been very helpful in determining if there was an issue with the Alter-Ego event. We've added an extra check that will make sure that the Alter-Ego event does trigger in the upcoming update.
Now on to what's on everyone's mind; where the fudge is version 0.3 of School of Lust?
The short answer, and we're aware that this won't please some of you who aren't fans of the combat in School of Lust, is that the expansion of the Hole ended up being more significant than we initially planned it to be.
We initially planned to only add a floor with an animated H-scene (which already took long enough due to unexpected animation issues, as we pointed out in an earlier post). After we resolved the issues and completed the expansion, we wanted you guys to have more things to do in the Hole, and we decided to add random generation to the final floor, so the Hole can be played endlessly (until the release of the next update). After we finished that, we thought, "Remember Binding of Isaac? It had that fun challenge room! Maybe we should add something similar to that as well, so they have even more things to do.", and you guessed it, that's what we've been working on as well... a challenge room, which basically makes the enemies harder with each new challenge, and also rewards you with stuff. It'll be fun to see how far you guys can get, and boast about it here.
That said, the Hole wasn't the only thing we've been working on these past few weeks. For example, we've been developing a new Match-3 mini-game, which is in very early stages (so ignore the horrendous layout and animation):
Keep in mind that the mini-games will be avoidable in the next update, for those that aren't a fan of 'm, although that penalizes you by giving less skill points.
We've also added the ability to show the "profile page" of the girls when selecting them on the "Contacts" page on the mobile menu, which also shows what gifts they would like. Thank you to whoever suggested this. Great idea!
And here we are, late August, and the update is not yet released. We have 2 final (but large) tasks left to do, which are mandatory for the update. While there are still many more features we want to add (e.g. adding more scenes to the Hole, add facial hair growth to the protagonist with each use of anti-androgen and the girls reacting accordingly etc. etc.), we don't want to make you guys wait any longer. We're doing everything we can to release the update before the end of the month, and from there on, we'll focus on releasing monthly updates.

PS: We made sure that your previous save files will be compatible with the new update, so you can continue where you were left off. We also added the save location (e.g. School, Home or Shop) to the save file names, to make it clearer to save and load.

Yeah like Zewrath says, STOP working on the UPDATE and just randomly type whatever in 5 minutes without thinking about it and let the people who read it understand it on their own terms. That should work right? You know what, let the people who keeps complaining work on the update and have them type every 5 days.
May a suggest a policy where you maintain status updates on intervals no longer than 5 working days? I feel like this would ease the tension for those anxiously waiting for updates, and perhaps it would it also increase people’s understanding that you’re very busy with the project. Nothing fancy, just use 5 minutes to give a weekly resume or something. Kind regards from an eager fan!
Have you guys thought about making a walkthrough for the game for scrubs who don't like bad ends?
The game is very straight forward. If you right click, you will see the option, "Objectives". Use this as your guide to see what you should do next. It will show you what is completed and what is uncompleted. If there is a specific part you are having trouble on, I'll help you out

Hey, I'm having a bug where the game will crash and then when i restart it. All my save files will be gone and the only option is to start a new game.
Note: I'm sure there are very few who are encountering this issue and I'll see if it's client side first. Please do not prioritize this in addition to the latest update. I want it already
I, unlike most apparently, kinda like the larger updates. Every time there is a bigger update it really gets me excited to play the game again! I don't ever get sick of it because once I've gotten to do everything in the older version I will do something else for awhile until the next big update comes. I think the updates to the whole and adding a match 3 is fantastic, I FUCKING LOVE match 3s and I'm very excited for that update.
I 100% agree. I prefer the bigger updates that add more gameplay and substance. It keeps me entertained until the next update is released.
Agree with Netatsake. PLEASE fix the dead ends already in the game.
Honestly, the challenge room was cute, but at this point? You should have saved it for another update. The problem here is that you keep trying to pack more and more into the update... but really, you should just finish what's already on the table, not put more onto it. The infinitely replayable floor for the hole was definitely necessary, and we've needed that for awhile - but at this point, you should be finalizing things, not sticking in more content that's going to slow down the development. Priority is a bit skewed here considering how long we've had to wait BECAUSE you keep doing this.
Hi Netatsake, the Hole/challenge room was finished a while back. We're only working on the mandatory stuff now, which are the 2 remaining tasks and resolving game-breaking issues.

Any idea when the alpha beta will be available to the 50 tier patrons? Cant wait to see the new improvements and update of the game ;)

I haven't touched myself in 3 weeks in preparation for this new update. I don't know how much longer my body can take.
Be careful of feature creep. I can't speak for everyone, but smaller updates spread out is preferable to large gaps of no updates between major updates.
The release date is probably going to be mid of next month or maybe end of it. Sucks but oh well. We cant do anything about it. Like really. we cant

From the looks of it, they are trying to get more stuff in the game for the next update. Which is good. Instead of having little stuff every update to complete a portion of the story and side quests. I would rather wait a month for a longer version of a game than an episode every 1 or 2 weeks.
Stop implementing new content.. If your last survey had been "what should we do next", pretty sure "getting the patch out" would have seen the most support. Focus guys! We're all paying good money for this. It's kind of frustrating at this point. Reach out to your fan base more often and give them what they want, not what you think might be cool to you.
Hi GB! I understand your frustration, however you're supporting the wrong creator, if you expect us to shape School of Lust according to what the fan base wants. We have a vision for the game that we aren't planning to stray from (excluding custom scene additions). Unless, I misunderstood you, and you were referring to giving the fan base the choice on what content to give priority and not actually shape the content of the game.
I would like to reiterate what techie456 said earlier you really need to stop trying to add more stuff into this update that is incredibly delayed. Get the important stuff out and add the shit you wanted to put in the next update. All these people are donating because you guys have an amazing game, hands down the best adult game ive ever played. but I dont want this "monthly" update delayed more than it already is. I may sound like an ass but just understand you have an amazing game here that people love and more people will love Just dont turn them away.

Both figuratively and literally =) As we mentioned in the post, there's plenty of stuff we want to add, but we're aware it's just taking way too long, and we're focusing now on adding the mandatory things and release the update asap. I would seriously appreciate a reply on this one, because I've literally never backed anything before and authentically would appreciate hearing from a legitimate game designer on this. Techie458, If you want to weigh in on this then please do. 1.If I said that many aren't a fan of the combat in my game in the same paragraph as "We decided to add alot more combat to the game" I would be very confused with myself. Why do this? It seems like a strange choice. Instead of tightening the combat or making it more rewarding? 2.It seems like this game is the perfect format for item puzzles, simple hidden dialogue and other things to that effect, but there's very little of that and a whole lot of actual coded game mechanics. Isn't that more time consuming, or is match 3 easier to code than I think? 1.( I don't feel the combat is poor, I enjoy it, it just isn't very rewarding. The fact that you have to click on pots 3 times is literally no fun, though. I feel like shit when I walk into a room with pots and realise I'm going to have to click for days.) 2.( One of my favorite parts of the game was finding the room in which I would have to identify characters. Admittedly, I didn't know any of the characters but this mechanic is what initially caused me to take notice [outside the titties, of course.] There are plenty of games where you have to do some shitty little minigame before someone shows you hentai, but "Match 3 bubble butt" and other hentai flash games from the ye olde late 90's just seems like more work than more adventure game stuff.) I hope you follow techie's advice. I'll be $30 deep in this game in a week and I'm probably just going to have to step away because I don't see a point where this will be worth $50 to me, but yeah. This game feels a lot like persona, and I think it could succeed by leaning into that. The art is great, the premise is great, probably the best adult game so far. But that's a low bar. I'm pretty sure you have the potential to make this a good game in general. Thanks for making this shit! Woop.

O wow thank you for the update on the situation. This looks promising. Please just please keep keeping us informed on the situation so the link between us the patrons and you guys wouldnt get damaged. Hope we will be able to play the game before the end of the month.
Is there any progress on the dating mechanic in V0.3? I'm not hearing anything on that, but it is consistently one of the highest demanded things
Hi Dylan! Unfortunately, we've not had time to touch the dating mechanic for v0.3. We're planning to make the dating scenes interactive (e.g. mouse controls), so we need more time to focus on getting that to work. You can say that the dating scenes will be like the "final boss" of the H-scenes. Our main focus in v0.3 has been the continuation of the story, more h-scenes and getting to know the new characters better (Nicole, Aiyana, Dunia). Cheers!

Hi Randy! There are a lot of custom scenes still in queue, so I highly doubt it will be active again for while, at least not until we're done adding the custom scenes. Cheers =)

Maybe we should do a poll and see how many would be interested in joining the Discord channel?
