What If Your Podcaster Was a Robot?

It's the free one!

Hussein, Alice, and Riley talk about a new startup that aims to replace us all with chatbots based on Socrates, Steve Jobs, and Jordan Peterson reading the news, then we discuss the wild world of AI scare-vertising and its impact on the world's most gullible government: the United Kingdom.

“What if Skynet, but for fish fingers” is absolutely not a thought I’d ever had occasion to think about prior to this episode, and I’m grateful for the enlightenment.

About the startup: you guys need to have a look at linkedin. It is clearly for this strand of "content": Just here to satisfy the algorithm. Quality does not matter. Just clicks.

AI Liam would just be a beep because it would be trained on all the actionable legal threats

Hate to inform you guys but some audio software allows you to pick out formants & specific frequency bands that allows for fairly well isolated distinct vocal tones. As in, picking apart and removing crosstalk of different members of a podcast. Throw a few polarity cancelling tricks afterwards (or just give it to a vocal isolator plugin/ai) and hey presto, near seamless isolation of one member of a conversation, all for the low low price of having some technical knowledge relating to audio engineering. Just imagine, an entire choir of recruitment Hitler running through a fairly high quality production studio.

funnily enough you're describing one of the rare cases where the AI end product would not only take 5% as much time but also be way better than the skilled craft product

Imagining a guy who's furious that AI would be used to generate more podcasts instead of new Shakespeare plays but also furious at the idea of AI Shakespeare.

I was going to say in regards to the neuralink monkeys, that I remember seeing them being kept just not very well, like nearly violating americas pretty bad animal care laws, kinda bad.

What do they mean clone your own voice? That's just recording your voice. And when it does play back, all you're hearing is presumably chopped up bits of audio of your voice that's been rearranged and treated with fades & noise gating etc to resemble speech patterns. Like do these AI guys think a recording of say someone singing is that person cloning themselves via audio? So stupid.

It might be a lot more than that. I mean the results that are currently circulating around of gamer trump or gamer Obama sound a lot better than just sampling and playing back. Compare those to the YouTubePoop remixes. Maybe AI tools are used on the whole process of generating the sound font of a voice so it can then synthesis any sentence, even applying filters to fix any anomalies. More like Miku project than sampling and remixing.

What do you call a group of white guys? A podcast. And thanks to advances in AI technology we may be able to replace groups of white guys altogether. Another win for the trans agenda

Alice! WTYP does have high production values! (You should hear the mic quality on some non-European podcasts I listen to ) The irregular schedule is merely one of its charming features

J
Josep C. · June 6, 2023

Irregular length, schedule, topics, guests, cast, and before Devon took over editing irregular editing too. The audio on the pre-devon era sometimes was a wild experience. Meanwhile, in the equitable lagoon of Trashfuture... 😎👌

New show idea “Ai-ology” (patent pending), have the LMM write a show about Ai developments and voiced by AI trashfuture as a shit post bonus. Thoughts? Good, bad, ugly?

Sounds like you exiled _yourself_ to the lagoon.

You joke about these generated podcasts needing to do Slur Chat, but given enough time a podcast summarizing Hacker News will fully just devolve into a protracted treatise on black-on-black crime statistics

Sorry to be the deeply obnoxious ackshually person, but I was so confused by Riley's "Dameon" that I feel the need to correct both of you: It's said like Dime-yo but the transition between m and yo has no change in emphasis.

I'm the kind of person to ask, "I wonder what happens to those characters after the show ends", but I just like, read and write fanfiction about it
