Amazon for Legends
It's the free one!
This week, Riley, Milo, Hussein, and Alice discuss The Hut Group--an attempt to make British Amazon with direct sales of health goods, financed with SoftBank capital--and its yoked fifty-something founder. We also discuss the Owen Paterson affair in all its cynical splendour. And, of course, there’s a new song. Hope you enjoy!

If the bastards are gonna lie and cheat, they better at least put some effort into it. Demand a better standard of liar!
Incredibly, this is the second TF startup that I've had an interview with (them and parli/parlia). I applied to be a "journalist" (basically internal Comms) and in the interview the guy told me they wanted to "found a hut group religion", which is pretty strong for what is basically a holding company
i'm still bitter about The Hut Group buying Arrow Video. they'd grown into one of the better boutique video labels out there but their standards have been slipping and prices rising ever since they were bought out
if milo did a live show in wigan he could come hear my dad complain about what it was like to work for the hut group: not good as it turns out
The day you stop doing the 'it's the free one / bonus uhhh' bit is the day I stop listening.
the 1m square warehouse bit was the funniest shit I've heard in a minute
Question - is this any relation to the Huts from Star Wars? It sounds like it has a similar cartel vibe. So we have scalping but for houses? Great, love it. Definitely nothing wrong with that.
the Zillow platform slowly turning every single house it invests in into the house from House of Leaves
Han Solo was a gig worker for the Smugglr app
I actually live in Guernsey and it always deals me psychic damage to hear it namedropped in an episode. Incidentally I also went to University in St Catharines Ontario
Please take Derek Thomas.
Waking up to a rare cut from Johannes Vonk is really the only way to wake up.
