How I Meta Your Mother

Facebook and Google haven't done anything new of note since 2007. It's just market capture and worse and worse services. However, Facebook is now Meta or something, and in this bonus episode Riley, Milo, and Alice seek to understand. Also we talk about hitting an ape with a hammer.

Milo and Alice re-inventing the Donkey Kong arcade game as we all look on in horror

I've recently moved to London & was out of the loop with the fairy detergent bit until I walked into my kitchen and saw those five red letters next to my sink lol. It lives... I miss the moans, can't get hard enough to hear the podcast without them, And please 🙏🤲 do an Effective Altruism episode. There's so much to cover it could be multiple. I've been through a long life stage now where Peter Singer & GiveWell are my heros

So, we’re just going back to the 1800’s where we let weirdos run social excitements on the public so long as they pick up the tab? Why aren’t we *not writing an actionable threat on the internet * again?

I'm a UC student who has sat in on some UC systemwide housing committees - from what I've seen there's little chance this will be built because California has A LOT of environmental protections, building protocols and building takes a lot more surveying and bureaucratic approval at every step. But it would be really funny if the good people of California end up paying for this panopticon for their children. Also ucsb is the nation's premier party school, so I'd argue that the students are getting more than enough social interaction.

always thought that ucsc was the party school tbh

Milo my friend works at a pub and he organises events. Come to my friend's pub in Grange Town. He needs turnout for this event in the 25th of November and you might help turn a lib into a less confused leftie

Can't believe it took fairy soap to get the moans out, podcast doesn't smell right any more.

okay sure but the thing is that we all made a collective choice that no one really has to pay for anything online, ever, unless they especially want to. Once you're there, what is there to do? A lot of people are trying to squeeze the ad lemon to monetize content so that *someone* in there can get paid, and sure, they're being scummy about it. Oh yeah and once in a while a new media comes along and says "hey! it's the same thing but with no ads! isn't that cool?" but really the only thing they do is have a *new* pile of venture cap they can burn before starting to monetize. But if you remove them (actually mostly Google) you don't necessarily remove all this ad bullshit that comes with them. Anyways I don't have anything really specific or insightful to say about it, except that as a person who has a like 70$ patreon bill per month I'm Doing My Part but I also wish I could get a bundle sub for a bunch of US and/or international and/or canadian online papers because I *don't* want to fuck around with individual paid subs and logins to like 6 papers for which I read like 6 articles on each per month.

what the heck,,,, Campbell's like "yes Andy Warhol made us an American icon because he was really inspired by our design :)))" while the actual point was "what if you just did art but mass produced......... ?? what meaning is there anymore.... woa man"

I don’t know what fairy liquid is and at this point I’m too afraid to ask Edit: this is worse than that tumblr post about “lollipop Ladies”

FB is much more useless than Google. Googles been trying to make tensorflow, nlp, and other dev crap (that doesn’t work). FB only buys, never builds

Huh, that's weird. I bid on an ad-slot for this podcast, but all I got was this deeply brain-damaged orangutang with an inexplicable aversion to large clown hammers and a t-shirt for doctors born in March who hate cumming...

C
ChicaQueenVixenStyle · November 4, 2021

Between the brain damaged apes and the gay radioactive wolf I think Milo's got all he needs to make 67 million dollars doing a biotech startup. Horrifying comedy animals as a service.

Anyone else getting a Ghost Planet Industries Building¹vibe off Munger Hall? Or am l the only one who's totally given up on contemporary pop culture and resorted to just watching old Adult Swim streams. [1] From the Space Ghost Coast to Coast intro

Blockchain company offset company planting trees is marginally better than no blockchain offset company planting trees, hopefully more rent seeking in the space will help introduce a growth ceiling sooner

K
Karl Childers · November 4, 2021

this assumes that anyone at any point in the process will actually plant a tree instead of just lying. an assumption that is, if you don't mind my saying, fucking wild.

The bantz are lovely, but I stay for the common sense political economy. No Marxian critique or high-flying theory is necessary to explain to people that we are living through the Age of Absolute Suicidal Bullshit

Used to work in a digital marketing agency for a year. Can confirm it's all bullshit as described here, ha. What's more insidious (though they would say 'innovative') is that agencies know you won't click the ads a lot of the time, so employ content executives to write webpages in a certain way to be top of the 'organic' searches to get clicks. Of course, the only companies that can afford to hire agencies/in house content churners are the wealthier ones. Hooray!!

Milo should build a start-up and call it "HarmApe". Also a moment of solidarity for Milo having to sit through SFM porn ads. I feel for ya, comrade.

I've personally accepted it, and now the podcast is just the healthy banter to cope with the planet's collapse.
