Equality Under Garfield Law feat. Sapheen Meran
It doesn’t come as a surprise that lawyers are using AI tech in legal practice, but British legal authorities and firms have gotten a bit wild: buying pallets of NVIDA GPUs to build their own data centres, submitting briefs with AI hallucinations of fake laws all the way to the point that judges have to admonish them, and running an all-AI legal service called Garfield Law. We brought on British law understander Sapheen Meran to explain this to us, and the fact that all lawyers apparently still love the show “Suits.”
Sapheen is the other half of Second Homes along with Nate, and you can check out our debut album “Find a Way to Hate It” here! (It’s also available on streaming everywhere!)

Thematic: the actual premise of Suits is that there's a genius *whose credentials as a lawyer are fraudulent* and an increasing percentage of the firm gets exposure to having to keep that a secret
Damn I did not clock that the guest was the other guy from Second Homes
Using ai to compose documents will only result in word inflation, which was what lawyers wanted all along.
I must say, I hope the crew weren't too worried about fan reactions to the skeleton crew; I've really enjoyed this week's episodes.
It's not the northern boys without Kevin
WHY is nobody calling their legal LLM "Ace Attorney "
Or "Extraordinary Attorney 2"
Hussein didn't take the Tenet bait!!
In all seriousness, I remember when Milo's age gap shit first dropped and thinking "Nuanced view delivered poorly in a bad faith space; bad luck old boy, this is why you don't break faith with the queer community." His point was not an unsound one: lots of gay men in the past generation were in age gap relationships, many of which were almost explicitly grooming. We can acknowledge that *they* might feel differently about it, and still not want the practice to continue. To reference the age old: no, you do not, in fact, have to hand it to catholic priests.
Over here nonce means ad hoc, Jerry rigged, stand-in... the first time I heard the island use "x is a nonce" & in there waiting, eyes peeling back as I need the noun, trying not to interrupt very quickly being driven insane by the hanging adjective.
Getting my merger overseen by Calvin & Hobbes
Wharlie Wirk is just Ms. Rachel, I will not being taking questions at this time
I have it on good authority [my ass] that Riley and Nova are currently taking part in a Financial Crime-themed LARP. Riley is being taught the fine art of poodle-shaving while November is being stuffed into an oil drum by a team of stunning trans men dressed like Russian mercenaries.
And November thought she felt bad after her journey to a Cold War facility for a Disco Elysium LARP.
I think that the right canceled Milo not over the csa comments, but because he was gay. It was a pretense. It's the right, they love csa, even if they weren't open about it back then.
Fairy Law sounds like a spin off of the October Daye series.
Densha de Go is the train simulator mentioned and believe it or not there is a cab in Heart of Gaming, Croydon 👀
This is reminding me of the robo-signing of mortgage foreclosure documents circa 2008. The law firms bragging about the quality of their data is also pretty funny to me "our emails are of the very finest vintage"
FYI, probably already know, but gain on this ep seems a lil off for some.
Well now I'm going to have to write about Fairy Law for work. I'm more determined to sneak pictures of Garfield into any slides about Garfield Law though. Another thing AI is doing on some cases is overwhelming lawyers with voluminous emails both from litigants in person (ie. people running cases without a lawyer) and from their own clients questioning their work. Which obviously do things like make up case law and make spurious arguments. Even when they're not wrong, they're long and it's hard to find the point. It's technically wrong, but I do think Marc Andreesen was on to something when he said that AI brings the cost of arguing down to zero.
Hurray for Line6 DL4 representation. If only they'd reissue the modulation modeller too...
IT’S RFK! the liver guy
we also already have a Liver King
seems pretty clear to me that the ultimate result of all this will be that people who can't afford good lawyers will be forced to be represented by a guy reading out a half-arsed procedurally-generated chatbot-spew
in general it seems extraordinarily irresponsible to machinise, proceduralise, and dehumanise liberal civil society like this but that is the neoliberal instinct and so that is how it shall be
Only on dadfuture can we get a philosophical debate on Kirk-slam. Do we follow the Sunni line (Erika Kirk) or Shia path (Candace Owens). Also the one getting their liver eaten will either be Hegseth or Patel
Both of those livers will get you drunk on first bite.
Yes I am aware I mixed up "Suits" and "Skins" but I left it in because it was a fun bit
hey thats the guy from the music
