Hey guys what happened to Britainology. Haven’t seen a new one for almost 3 months now
you do get a decent amount of rhyming slang in australia depending on background. another unique one here is that if you're about to hit the frog, you might also say you're going to harry holt. harold holt - bolt, but also harold holt was the prime minister who disappeared while in office
realising that i understand cockney rhyming slang in a similar way as milo and yet my dad still called the stairs "apples" way too frequently for a man that hadn't lived in east ham for faaarr too long °-°
Sorry is this podcast being edited tighter? Jump cuts to shave time don’t like it at all. I thought my podcast app had the smart silence mode engaged. I understand if this is unavoidable. I still would like to complain this one time. Thank you and again, sorry.

for the curious drongo was a 1900s racehorse that always lost
gotta know the David Walliams thing
Biggs was only the get away driver not the rim leader
I suppose a rim is a form of ring, yes
re: these days a corruption plot wouldn't be exciting – please do a Britainology on Line of Duty
Slightly appalled that The Bill is identified as being set in "Up North" - it's set in East London. But they did pronounce ma'am like mum it's true.
Well now I'm offended by being called a seppo.
DM me abt Williams pls
Milo, when Michael asked you, “Who came up with that (cockney rhyming slang)??” I was certain you were gonna say, “my ancestors.” shout out to your gran
HEARING SEPPO FOR THE FIRST TIME BRILLIANT
Licherally my lineage is half yam/half potato
I saw them at The Borderline once.
Faintly disappointed that Milo didn’t open this one with, “AWRIGHT YOU SLAAGS YOU’RE NICKED”
"Awright Maureen, still on the game? You seen your Terry? SHUT IT!!"
Can confirm, potatoes all over this historically cursed archipelago of north atlantic islands. The only place I’ve ever been served a meal with potatoes done three DIFFERENT ways as separate side dishes, was in Aberdeen
you found the only British branch of Mickey Rooney's Potato Fantasy
i giggle anytime i hear seppo makes me miss melbs
RE Lozzaaaaa Fox, you definitely should not look up how old he and Kiera Knightley were during the filming of The Hole, and you definitely should not try to find the magazine interview (Hello!/ OK! or one of those types) he did about a decade ago, bragging about filming certain scenes and how great it was.
Is it very pathetic?
On celeb wines: I say grahahsm pinot-ton, Kylie merlot, and Gary barlollo.
I don't know how you'd make that work for dolly parton though
Good ep but the auto-silence-skipping is horrible, completely ruins the normal patterns of pauses and speech.
thanks for saying this i was getting anxious listening
I really don't like marmite but I really like vegemite!!
Michael’s teacher was definitely tapping into some ancestral rhyming patterns with his substitute swears for school
sock - cock bucket head - fuck it head
David Walliams Troy mclure arc confirmed
"Bucket Head Sock" is the full given name of a nonbinary upper-crust american WASP who goes by "Head" among their family and close friends but is professionally known as Bucket H. S. Williams
The isles that are adjacent to Britain
Irish songwriter Cathal Coughlan once described Ireland as “the last mean spit out of Europe, congealed on the edge of the Atlantic pit”. It’s a bit wordy though
The David Williams stuff is crazy. Who'd think that someone that close with their sister could harass women?
JFC
bucket head is a a Ned Kelly reference I believe.
See, now I want you to talk about “Touch of Frost”
The time cuts between words are too aggressive. Maybe my data is compressing weird, but the is some uncanny valley where the "dead air" is cut. Sorry to be negative at all, love the show, loved the episode!
Ah that's what it was! It sounds like a See and Say
Less demon barber than I anticipated.
Brasil seems so ill suited for Nazis the people are racially blended, the culture is relaxed, the weather hot, the cabbage almost wholly absent
We all miss Britainologist emeritus Nate, but Michael is crushing it with the Socratic queries.
Gonna start a rumour that Nate is in Switzerland now because he is in a sanitarium there recovering from learning too much about Britain, like something from a H.P. Lovecraft story
