Shrimp Jesus the Redeemer feat. Jason Koebler
It's the free one!
The cast joins guest Jason Koebler of 404 Media to discuss the recent downward spiral of Facebook, a platform currently being destroyed by AI and a total lack of content moderation that cannot admit the causes of its crisis because it, too, is dumping money into AI. And yet it is among the notionally most valuable companies on earth. But don’t worry—if you die, your account can be hacked and used to post spam bot comments on the worst art you’ve ever seen.

That was SURPRISINGLY bleak.
Cephalopods, cetateans are whales and shit
Oh my god this is before the mickey mouse ears, isn't it
It kinda blows my mind that November voted for Scottish Labour. Truly the most complacent bunch of entitled twats in the UK, (except for the tories obvs).
I've always considered that the correct way to not vote is to spoil your ballot in person, manually. It, in some vague way, counts for more than just absenteeism
Gramps is dead, but he does now have a huge BBL and is coming up with new slurs for indigenous Amazonians.
If you've seen AI chainsaw art of a dog, you may have fucked around with a traditional scrench.
My grandmothers Facebook account was put into “deceased/memorial/memoriam” whatever the fuck it’s called “mode” by me in 2017 when she died. Found out around 6 months ago she was suddenly not dead and posting. It was funny for me esp because I was under the impression it was impossible to revive a in memoriam page. but that could and probably is extremely traumatic for most people especially if the loved one died recently. The only reason the page got left up (I told them to probably just download what you want and take it down way back then, not worth babysitting) is because I was told by my older relatives it’s the only way a lot of her peers understand how to view old photos and videos from websites. The process of download, save, and print for Facebook or online photos is confusing and not gonna happen without younger generation child/grandchild helping them do it. so leaving her page up is one of the only ways they can see her actual family photos and memories. It’s kinda like someone went and knocked over her virtual tombstone. Also I had no idea any of this happened until her 60 yr old sister (my great aunt) called me to ask about it cuz even she knew it was a hack since you know, obviously she knows her sister has been dead for 7 yrs and isn’t DMing a Temu link from beyond the grave. This happened around Christmas 2023 mind you. Nice to see my mild bafflement with Facebook come full circle. Yeah I’m sure there are a lot of “literally dead” accounts out there to easily zombify. Stay safe folks lol
Imagining a very sensual clown with bedroom eyes drawing an ever-lengthening shibari rope from their sleeve
Fuck Riley now I need to put the pacific rim music over video of guys walking in an inflatable elephant costume
gonna start my aquatic animal media literacy podcast "cetacean needed"
Cigarettes are the last few sticks holding all the marbles in the British Kerplunk
Am I the only one that after reading the title thought this would be about red lobster?
all my Facebook feed is these days are "remember the binman" pages for millennial nerds that post scuffed tumblr screencaps about disney and Nickelodeon shows
In the UK they say the Circus is a "Gender affected sport." so trans women are banned from the Circus, even when it's rigged
"is the AI deck up to code" ruined me
Scene starts. You, a simple mesoamerican mayan leader , look upwards from the bottom of a shallow grave. You see three sharp dressed aztec fellows above. Its raining the heaviest, oiliest drizzle you've ever felt. The stunningly feathered aztec speaks : From where you're kneeling this must seem like an 18 jade run of bad luck. But I encourage it to go further. Truth is, the ball game was rigged from the start. You get domed by an arrow. "ain't that a kick in the head, starts playing
You wake up to the sight of a medicine man, pipe in hand. Your spirit's still here, how 'bout that. Your vision blurs and darkens as you sit up on the clean slab Woah, easy there, easy. You drank a lot of puddle, it's a wonder you're still gay
This ep made me text my mom and thank her for not being on social media
The only two podcasts I pay to listen to, together, years ahead of schedule. 404 Media is the American independent news outlet success story of the last 12 months.
I'm still on Facebook mostly for keeping in touch with people, local news, and for Bortposting. I thankfully miss the deluge of AI weirdness
We’re like a solid five years from the advertising model being proven wrong and unviable but no one wants to admit it cause it would disrupt too much stuff so they’re just dragging this corpse around
My mom has a friend that I am friends with on facebook. She is an evangelical she posts probably 10+ times a day and all the posts are either an AI generated picture of a calf wearing a flower crown or about how Israel must rebuild the temple and bring the antichrist. She is also a bircher
Sure it's a laugh joking about not voting, but once Nigel Farage's Smoker's Party emerges, I'm expecting the TF crew to make an embarrassing u-turn
I knew this was going to be a great episode when the ball game came up, and then "rigged circus" separated my soul from body.
Finally, a sequel to “Lawrence of Glamorgan”
