PANDORIUM 2D or...
Hey everyone!
My tablet is still on the way, so in the meantime I’ve been experimenting with the project. In my free time, I tried recreating the entire setting in 2D - and it surprisingly turned out to be really atmospheric. I’d be curious to know what you think about this idea...
The screenshot shows the fully assembled level running in Unreal Engine.
And for those who were really concerned about performance - the FPS is consistently above 300 frames per second, sometimes even reaching up to 407...
Right now I’m using assets from my previous project. They weren’t really designed for Unreal Engine, since they were originally created for Adobe Flash, but for experimentation and testing purposes they work surprisingly well.
So at this point I can confidently say that a full Pandorium remake in a 2D style, enhanced with modern features and technologies, is more than realistic.
I’ll have to do quite a lot of work to replace certain visual elements, since not all of the existing assets are suitable for use in Unreal Engine. The characters will also need to be completely reworked from scratch.
But honestly, I see more advantages in this than disadvantages. It’s a good opportunity to make important technical improvements, fix some of the old issues, and redesign the characters to be more polished, functional, and higher quality than they were before.
Either way, I’m really looking forward to hearing your feedback and opinions on this, because I’d genuinely like to know whether you would support the idea of bringing Pandora back in 2D, or if I should continue developing it in full 3D instead.
That’s all I wanted to say for now.
I’ll be looking forward to your feedback, and see you next time!

why not mix both 3D and 2D flip between sometimes 3D sometimes 2D
Money. That’s a lot of money to spend on development. Besides, it doesn’t make sense, because these are two different types of gameplay that aren’t connected.
At one time, I developed my colony closely and was even in the top 100 colonies (if I'm not lying, I even entered the top 25 and aspired to the top 10). So if there's an updated version with the ability to tell you where the error is and where there's just room for improvement, I'm all for it. What I didn't like about the previous version was that after half an hour of continuous play, it started lagging, no matter how hard I ran it on the computer. So if this problem can be solved, I will certainly try to develop the colony on a new engine)
Why not finishing a game before you start a new one. Finish Hunter before you do another game.
Will the new remake be in 2D or 3D? I'm excited either way.
i like the 2d, i would pay for that.
2D is fine for me
2D is fine!
there are already to much 2d games in my opinion, i know its easier to make it in 2d. if the animations like breeding and the interactions are in 3d it would be more appealing to the gamer. but i think the majority of the people are waiting for the game The Hunter Pandorium.
No. No one is waiting for Hunter. Since the demo was released, there have been fewer comments than there were during the initial discussion of Pandorium 2D is more difficult to produce but allows for faster content creation. 3D is easier to produce but takes longer to develop. Furthermore, they are different styles
