I'm half Armenian but I've only visited Armenia once. Is it an Armenian right of passage to go to Georgia or live there for a bit?

Nah. Ani attended university there. It's also the only country with an open border (other than Iran) so traveling there is easy. there is also a large population of Armenians who have always lived there

I really dig these deep dive episodes, I know its a subject that's close to the heart, but as someone with a vague understanding of the genocide in Armenian it really educated me on the brutality of it. I definitely have a deeper appreciation for the country and its people.
