I knew after 5 minutes I have to go rewatch FLCL now. As a former horny teenager in the 2000’s, seeing this on Adult Swim was one of the most striking memories I have of television. Not an anime fan, but loved FLCL, Paranoia Agent, Cowboy Bebop and Lupin the Third back in the day
Not a fan of much anime, but listening to LLBR for the first time as I was also influenced by Adult Swim airing FLCL when I was like 12-14

Furry here. Fursuit making got kinda professionalized in the late 2000s; go back to some of the early conventions in the '90s and early '00s when people had to make their own stuff from scratch and you'll find the really bad stuff. These days, people tend to commission their suits from a handful of makers, and they tend to be very, very good.
Probably worth noting that kuri kuri furi kuri word play in Japanese sounds a lot more lewd. That scene with the dad is pretty much a bunch of dirty jokes.
To elaborate on the shitty fursuit remark, specifically Lucy’s question of “is it shameful”, the highest quality ones are works of art and make rounds for everyone to see and thats awesome. The more moderate to poor quality ones, which can be handmade by anyone or purchased fro makers, some can be outright bad sure but I believe its like painting your nails. Even if you paint them like shit you still painted them and get to have some color to flash around. There isnt a shame associated with lower quality suits simply because isnt it awesome to have a suit anyway? The community celebrates all levels of suit quality which is as it should be for any art focused community

The reason you never see shit fursuits is because you're not deep enough in the furhole to see the real dogshit, plus fursuits are all typically made-to-order, and good suit makers can afford to be very selective about their clients, whereas bad or inexperienced suit makers either only get the dregs, exclusively make fursuit accessories/partials rather than full suits, or just don't have enough output to break out of the furhole's event horizon. Broke furries go to Spirit Halloween to get an approximation of a fursuit, mid-wealth furries get partials, and the financially insane furries can afford good full suits, so the only real market the bad suit makers have is the outcasts.

The reason you don't see a lot of bad fursuits is bomber with red dots on them. People only post and repost fursuits when they're really good or spectacularly bad. If you don't have money these days, you don't buy a full suit. You just buy a head and or paws, which is much cheaper. The most notorious bad fursuits in the fandom are owned by rightwing weirdos, like the guy with the Dylan Roof fursuits, or the confederate fox shithead

We do make benson and hedges in the US, we make them on the same machines as any other brand. One week might be B&H the next might be reds because another machine complex needs help fulfilling its order.

I used to have a band that played nerd conventions and that was always on the anime con setlist. Most of the stuff we played brings back some pleasant feelings, but that riff hit the brain so hard I was momentarily onstage getting stormed by dancing cosplayers again
