BONUS EPISODE: The Anphelion Project ft. 40k Badcast
Campell and Dan of the 40k Badcast take Joe on a journey of Warhammer 40,000 Lore. From how stupid the Imperium of Man is, to invading a planet of piss, and the constant reconning that eventually forced the evolution of flying space bugs.

This episode was amazing, please make this a semi-regular bonus series!
Please let this be the start of a new Lions Led By Dreadnaughts series. I'd happily subscribe to a second patreon of just more of this
Lmao i also chose krieg cause they look cool and prepared myself to field questions about it
If you do another one of these types of episodes, you could have one that focuses on the Siege of Vraks. Another story of a series of military blunders that would leave millions dead.
This was just fun to listen to. Never played 40k as I refuse to play anything that requires rulers and laser pointers, but I always loved listening to my friends chat about the lore while I painted their minis.
Fucking fire stuff here lads — thank you for sharing. Would happily pay a second Patreon feed with more of this content.
PS: Do not buy any Forgeworld models. They suck, they are expensive, and they are gradually all being phased out. If you want specific things that GW doesn't make, you basically have to go for third party kits. There's a shitload of them tho
Re: corpse infrastructure. I just want to point out there is a Warhammer novel literally called 'Road of Skulls'
I think the Wall of Martyrs is pretty literal as well
It's the Eldar (space elves) who have a person's soul stuck in their war suits.
Hey folks and friends, this was an incredibly dope episode. I’ve played 40k a total of maybe twice but the lore has always intrigued me. This was a really great way to give me more of what I like about the setting without having to pull out a laser pointer. Would love to hear more of this incredibly niche content! Thanks again for all of it.
Actually, I enjoyed this 5x as much as you did
I've realized that my biggest problem with 40k might be that when people describe something I think "that sounds cool!" But then I look it up and visually it's kinda lame.
In desperate need for yall to cover the Siege of Vraks 👀
Planet Piss was a side project William Murderface of Dethklok fame failed to get off the ground
Really the Orks are the closest to "good"... by 40k standards. They just want a good fight and a big WAAAAAAAGH
I am extremely excited about this crossover
Blank slate to 40k universe and loved this 🔥
This is the crossover i didnt know i needed, i turned 37 last year...my body said hey bud, no more fuckin gluten...and my response to that was...buy little plastic guys and paint them....sometimes it be like that
grey plastic, corvettes and bespoke 12 speed street bikes, all cost the same somehow
I need more of this. Excellent.
This took me back; Grandma's Boy was the one movie I had on my PSP in high school! Also excellent crossover...now do the Siege of Vraks
Scions led by Servitors lets goooo!
Didn't know very much at all about 40k and i had a blast listening to this one! Glad you had fun recording it. Would def b down for more 40k-related bonus eps in the future.
This episode was hilarious and awesome. I need more Lions led by Servitors in my life
Scions led by Servitors?
Needed this. My first tatoo was an Alpha Legion insignia. A First and Only tatoo sounds rad.
This and LLBR are fantastic and hitting two points of my need brain!
Oh shit Joe are you going to start doing 40k stuff??
A new side series looms?!?Thoroughly enjoyed listening to you all talk about the 40K universe and would love to hear more!
Oh the actual 40k Blackhawk Down would be Raid on Kastorel-Novem, when Elysians and Raven Guard space marines launch a kill mission against an Ork mek that ended up going horribly wrong.
biblically accurate oregon 4x beavers are 100% white nationalists tho
The castigation of capitulation is hilarious
Grandma's Boy rules!
The Tyranids are not invincible, the Necrons are a pretty hard counter to them. Of course, that’s not a comfort…
So is glassing every plant in front of them until they starve. But some people don't like that stuff.
I did actually like the malleable nature of resin with one specific Mechanicus kit where you have to bend the metal tentacles yourself.
Joe, y'gotta read the Nemesis the Warlock comics from 2000 AD. Not only is it a HUGE influence on 40K, there's an issue where Colonel Chivington of the Sand Creek Massacre gets eaten by a time travelling tyrannosaur. Five stars, no notes.
Do the Siege of Vraks and my soul is yours!
that’s just the history of the Great War podcast lol
Does anyone else remember the gaming magazine Inquest? They did a semi regular humour Contest of Champions series, where they pitted various nerd properties against each other. One match up I remember was the Borg against Warhammer Orks. The Borg easily best the Orks in combat, but the Orks took the victory after the Borg fled the arena. When they start to assimilate the Orks, the Borg Queen realised the Orks were so dumb, but so quick to reproduce, they would not only lower the intelligence of the Collective, the Orks would also spawn the Collective into extinction.
Holy crap, I remember that!
More 40k content
Seconded!
YEEEEEEEEEES I NEED A GODDAMN TANITH CREST AAAAH
At some point you need to invite Robert Evans or you'll hurt his feelings
ABSOLUMENT D’ACCORD
This was excellent
I'm a man heading into my middle 30s, so this is so incredibly my shit.
I know nothing about 40k or model games but I absolutely loved this! More please!
If I were to start reading the novels, which ones would be best to start?
Gaunts Ghosts
Oh man, I need my 40K group to listen to this. They are all mostly former military.
Fun episode guys
Sick! Joe, have you read/listened to The Macharian Crusade (omnibus)? It's pretty sick, also big focus on a tank crew.
what ever is fun for Joe is fun for us.
Fine cast? Barf!
Hi, first off 10/10 I would like to make the following requests on Bonus Episodes: 1. NECRONS, no more explanation. 2. Trench Crusade dudes doing a similar episode. 3. Please write Trench Crusade short story/novella/novel.
Star wars trench run or the battles of endor
Resin models were a sin against everything good.
Pennsylvania’s unique unit would be Amish technicals. Horse & buggy with a .50 cal mounted on top.
That's called a tachanka.
Warhammer is like evangelion, homestuck and berserk. As in soon or later you are going to talk about or watch/play it because of the media you enjoyed is connected in some way. All roads lead to those 4
Hear me out. Homestuck CSM army.
I think it would be a good April fool special if you do a epsiode on 40k or star wars.
Can I get more info on the plagerized book that was mentioned? I tried to Google to get more information and nothing is popping up. Just a bunch of stories of a vet who stole 450k dollars.
I really enjoyed this and would enjoy more 40k lore-pisodes
Full 40k lore series you cowards. J/k <3 YOUUUUU
Seconded
RESPECT for admitting you have a Wheel of Time tattoo.
Warhammer 40Kassabian
40k bonus series. Come on!
Imagine Joe doing a book reading of the first heretic. GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT, JOE
As someone that has been subscribed to the 40k Badcast from like, episode 6? This is a crossover I never expected, but is very very welcome.
This is like a perfect representation of why 40k is so great. It's such an expansive setting so rich with lore, history, factions, and characters, that you can just pick a completely random situation happening in the galaxy and it will be an engaging starting point.
For me, it was the orks shenanigans and how the team fortress 2 merc are kinda like the Orks. Now I am playing warhammer total war, the tide games and trying to read gotrek and felix
Ork players are usually that annoying but cute and harmless nerd. Black Templars players are fash. All girls play tyranids because they're just cute little guys, and one of the models is literally a walking angry vagina (Tervigon) 💖
I'm on a break from the Rogue trader CRPG so I wouldn't be in too bad 40k bubble, because it makes me annoying to be around... And you do this to (everyone who has to be around) me??
Let’s gooooo 40K, let’s get the Carcharodon pod!
Fun fact: the Tyranids were ripping off the Zerg, they looked way different before Starcraft 1 came out.
Plus they were clearly ripping off the Alien movies first, Starship Troopers (movie) was later. I don’t remember there being many details about the bugs in the book. Certainly nothing about the parasitic growth cycle of Genestealers that obviously came from Alien.
Not into 40k but if yall do like a video series, I'm watching
IMPERIUM JURASSIC PARK
YES YES 40K FINALLY
Almost surprised it isn't PancreasNoWork or Adeptus Ridiculous. As someone who has way too much 40k knowledge and models, I encourage this
That would be my dream scenario. PancreaseNoWork dry humor would be great
Ferda Emprah!! Can't wait to listen to this. He could do a whole separate podcast on the stupid battles of the Imperium.
Someone please tell Joe about the 30k Basilisk/Medusa kit that comes with an interior and crew and separate ammo racks and different breech depending on which gun you build it with https://www.warhammer.com/en-GB/shop/solar-auxilia-basilisk-medusa-2024
Holy shit you guys covered Tyranid Park!
I also recently got into warhammer minis. I'm doing up a space wolves army right now
I just got back in after a few years out, I'm working on some Genestealer Cultists
I dropped everything to listen to this.
I’ve been dreaming about LLBD Warhammer and Trench crusade content I swear
Just sat down for lunch at work and this pops up the very same second. As a 40k nerd and long time LLBD fan, I am beyond hyped
Finally, the Joe talking about 40k lore era begins!!!
Full respect to having a Wheel of Time tattoo
