Catching up on episodes and heyoooo Guns of the Dawn rec! Absolute banger of a book that should be way more popular.

Ohio? Michigan? Lake Champlain is between New York and Vermont ya flatlander. And yes, even as a native I recognize Champ's just knock-off Nessie.

Tom, I did the exact same thing at 13 and it never grew back. I grow an inverse Hitler, I have the second worst mustache ever.

Which books were recommended within the episode?

N

Pink Floyd, then Death Grips.

Just take a shower, get out to shave, and get back in to wash it off.

M

I know we found out what happened to Nick but did we ever find out what happened to Liam? I might be in the minority here but some of his unhinged responses are some of my favorite moments on the show.

Hot water and bar-soap. Then cream. Use a dollar shave club razor. Shower. Then old school after-shave and just take the 5seconds of burning pain

M
Mutual Aid Miniatures · October 30, 2025

Hot water & hair conditioner. I use a knife or a really sharp floor scraping razor blade, not because I'm a badass but because I'm lazy and put my self care last on my list of priorities.

The gonster is already a thing. It's a meme. Had to sensitise my non-irish family to not order it when we had a family function in Ireland last year.

H
H · October 24, 2025

The only Monster in Thailand is grey imports on Shopee/Lazada because of lobbying from the coloured bovine company, I’ve never seen it in a shop. There is however durian flavoured everything. Coffee, cookies, ice-cream, crisps, tea, buns, slushies, chocolate, pies, bread, spreads, creams etc and also scented stuff like soap and candles.

Yukio Mishima always brings to mind the art of Gengoroh Tagame. It is a sick twisted joke he's put out now 2 very heartwarming books on queer inclusivity & queer families. "Oh my brother's husband was such a tender piece. I wonder what else he's got"

Samwise is the one who suggests potatoes (boiled/mashed/in-stew) would go well with the rabbits Smeagol caught. I know it's not like important but Samwise gamgee quotes are the only thing I have left.

Gil the Gilded Dragon · October 23, 2025

Classically Satyrs are half Donkey not Goat, as the ass was regarded as the hypostasis of masculine lascivousness. The goat, the ram, was seen as maternal or bellicose It only became a goat as Christianity shifted the demonic meanings from the Typhonic Donkey towards the Mendean Goat, & through that the meanings of lascivousness Which is to say: next bit of merch needs to be a fascinus oil lamp or a set of Donkey tintinabula

While on the subject of 'its hard to find unproblematic scifi and fantasy', that's part of why I love Warhammer. Lots of very talented authors in fun settings and they largely don't write things that make you want to check someone's hard drive.

N
Noblese Oblahaj · October 23, 2025

Very much recommend Gotrek and Felix ( Skavenslayer is the best one to start with, the first book is largely a collection of shorts and more books weren't intended when it was written ). Mike Brooks has wrote a couple great 40k books with Necrons and Orkz. ADB, Guy Haley, and John French also generally wrote bangers. Don't start 40k with HH because while there are good books in there, there are also a lot of stinkers. Start with smaller series, like Fabius Bile or something

1) milk monster is an liquid you can get in places that allow flavored vape liquid 2) nicotine drinks were almost ready for market in 2001. The idea was that you could take your nicotine drink on a plane where you couldn't smoke. Then 9/11.

I'm from Chattanooga and my wife and I have waited several hours in the airport waffle house for the plane that took us to our elopment. I'd like to say what nate saw is a unique experience but realistically you can see a pimp smoking a cigarette in any waffle house on God's great earth
