Reading Faulkner is like traveling to a different world. Difficult to get too but once there I was immersed in his world. A novel that approaches that experience is Under the Volcano written by Malcolm Lowery

As an American I understand the bullshit that is Texas. But this series clarifies so much it's like having an epiphany.

Listening to Nate audibly deteriorate over the course of these four episodes has been fascinating.

Joe's bathroom lunch story was worse that that scene in Gummo where the kid gets his hair shampooed while eating cold spagetti in a filthy bathtub.

I can't remember which episode he was in, but I remember there being a blind knight mentioned. Maybe the battle of Agincourt? Him, Mistislav the Mute, and Deaf Smith. See no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil

Crecy I believe. It was the Duke of Bavaria I think.

One thing about Sam Houston that's interesting to note is that he opposed secession and supported the Union during the Civil War, and was thrown out of the Texas governorship because of it. Not because he was an abolitionist, but because he correctly predicted that the South did not have the same level of resources/manpower/infrastructure to carry out a protracted conflict. His outgoing speech is worth a read. (His son would go on to be a Confederate officer, though.)

Fun fact #1: The Twin Sisters were a gift from the city of Cincinnati. Thanks for the cannons, y'all can keep your chili though.

Yeah, it's the .wav file. Bigger but it's so nice to hear Joe and his teammates in glorious uncompressed audio. This was a great series.

The shit of Feceus sounds like some kind of Nurgelite artifact; that summons Nurglings every time a piece is torn off, and thrown.

So is the Texian “Army” under Houston a rare example of donkeys led by a lion (albeit a very drunk one)

If it's the Barony of Mordenvale in the Kingdom of Lochac, you also have to serve each fighter's body weight in bacon for breakfast in order to see movement.
