As someone from Ohio. I apologize.
oh i thought it was gonna be the Other Weather Underground
Young, dumb, and full of activism
I actually use a weather app called Weather Underground, named after this group lol
Hell yeah, Lions led by Tom
I once got trapped in Bill Ayers bathroom and had a panic attack there. When I first moved to Chicago in 2014, I worked on the $15 minimum wage campaign as a field organizer with a non-profit. Bill Ayers was like, a friend or supporter or on the board, and he has a really nice house, so he let the non-profit use it for the orientation retreat. I think it was supposed to be impressive, but I didn't know who he was before that day. By the middle of the day I was quietly panicking cos I'm an anarchist and was starting to feel like I had made a mistake. Everyone else there was super confident, polished, and less radical than I expected. I'd been a cook before that job, so I went to hide briefly in the bathroom and pull it together. Then I went to leave, but it's a super fancy house and pretty old--the door handle stuck, and I ended up trapped in that bathroom for 20min until someone found me and opened it from the outside.
Will he mention the Columbia protests now 😭😭😭
This was recorded before those began. We generally work weeks or months ahead of time.
Tom is the podcast's dedicated Busting Correspondent
Ha the most cursed Bob Dylan voice
That cop statue they blew up was the one for the cop who died at hay market, that regularly got defaced, and once even taken out by a tram driver who drove off the tracks
Great job Tom
You know you've really made it when the cum tributes start rolling in. Remember us when you have your history channel show. Much love.
Of course UofM does this dumb shit.
So these guys aren’t meteorologists? Damnit!
Couldn't have picked a more appropriate time to do this one Tom.
Make him watch Girls und Panzer.
Oh I’m so excited for this series fuck me up
Id deleted the Cock Destroyers from my brain after that live show. And then you have to go and mention it again….
Knew Mark Rudd, worked with him in the late 2010's. He was a huge asshole and possibly an FBI snitch
I could see Cocaine Toilet being a band name
Jesse james was west coast choppers. Orange county choppers was the tutels
Every left-wing Western domestic terror outfit starts as a polycule.
"about the time a man created a terror organization in order to get laid." Like that narrows it down
Tom has a good young Bob Dylan voice.
I remember talking about this in the discord lol
Biggest takeaway of this episode: to hell with gendered bathrooms, every public restroom is now to be segregated into the piss toilet, the shit toilet, the fuck toilet, and the cocaine toilet. Progress!
I want Tom Waites voice next time
Happy for a Tom-led episode both because Joe gets to take it a little easy and Tom's really good as a writer! It's easy to forget it takes skill to turn a big mountain of various facts and figures into an entertaining narrative, while you're also keeping it going with the occasional Cock Destroyer reference and leading Joe to hear about new and unusual fetishes
It might be due to sleep depravation but I can’t get off the mental image of that story happening in the Netherlands. Also their leader would be called something like Fieke van der Gucht, a person who wrote a random book about linguistics I found while „efficiently multitasking“ aka listening to this Podcast while researching for a university paper. But we live in the bad timeline and we get no self-proclaimed revolutionaries with absolutely bonkers names. Anyway…good episode!
Oh sweet! Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn were regular guests in residence at the artsy dorm I was in during undergrad. No surprise that one of the current campus occupations is happening there.
Been hoping for an episode on these guys since you did the Red Army Faction
Tom has once again couped Joe.
Ah yes... I can fall asleep to Tom's beautiful voice once again.
It's 230 am here. Thank you for the goodnight kiss of knowing I can listen to this tomorrow. Love you Joe 😘
