DELIA: motorized knobs, less expensive // +HQ downloads

Hi!

LED rings, encoders and touchscreens are nice, but nothing beats knobs pointing in the right direction on hardware synths - and Melbourne Instruments are, at least currently, the only game in town.

DELIA is their follow-up to NINA. It's less expensive and has a synth engine with more features, though it has only two timbres, fewer voices, and a more condensed panel. Of course, all the details are in the video!

BONUS CONTENT:

I have attached to this post an ad-free high-quality audio download and a video download of me playing over 35 of its presets.

I had also planned to include multisamples of DELIA's sounds, however, that will have to wait a bit as I have a slightly too aggressive content schedule for the coming week and a bit (if all goes well...) so the multi-samples will be shared at a later date.

Meanwhile, you can explore the multi-samples I've previously created using NINA, available here for the modulator tier and here for WaveShapers.

See you soon!

Ziv (not wondering whether knob positions are at parameter values on a youtube channel called "Loopop"...)

Fantastic, Ziv! Thanks as always! I haven't watched the whole video yet, so you may mention this elsewhere, but in your pros and cons section you mention demanding that other synth companies license the technology. Which, awesome, but my dream/demand is that *MIDI controller makers* license this technology! A grid of these knobs, a few buttons, a modern MIDI API allowing detent setting, etc. on the fly, and maybe some in-line screens would be a HUGE step forwards. I'm going to ping the folks at Yaeltex (who I know are working on screen components) and see if they might start a conversation...

Hard to disagree in spirit. In practical terms, MIDI is showing its age when it comes to wishlist items like requesting capabilities and inspecting current values. Since nobody wants a new format war, I don't know how a modern bi-directional MIDI protocol gets launched.
