One thing I’ve been trying to do with lighting in my comics lately is to evoke the glow effects in 80s and 90s animation. It always looked so cool and tactile and almost dangerous. Like the film was being completely blown out. I think I managed it ok in this one with the spell effect. It’s easier in

I understand squishy wizards from a balance perspective in video games and tabletops, but I prefer my wizard beefy and ready to wield a broadsword. Our cat elphaba has been the main visual and behavioral inspiration for the black cat. However we recently got a little kitten (Winifred) who I suspect

I’ve been taking improv classes for about a year now, which has inspired this comic. I can respond to almost anything now. The original idea for this was for the improviser to put “magna cum laude in improv class” on their resumé, which the interviewer finds odd. I decided that was a little too simi

I came up with the first half of this comic awhile ago and had the hardest time deciding on an ending. We eventually came up with a whole thing where they try praying to Chair God, who brings back the chair, but they find out it’s death was a canon event, which leads to their universe collapsing. It

When a comic is set in one unremarkable location like this one, I try to go really overboard with the facial expressions. I don’t know how much people really care about it, but it helps keep me from getting bored while I’m drawing. I based future Jake’s look on 80s action heroes; primarily Mad Max.

This was a rare comic that barely changed from our initial writing session to final script. Basically just dialogue punch up. Those last 3 pages are exactly as I envisioned them from the start. It’s rare that happens, but makes things much easier. also, Marissa wanted me to think up something else f

This is another one of those troublemakers that was missing a source file (well, half a source file). But I was happy to do a redraw. despite it being one of my all time favorites, I was never thrilled with the color choices I made in the original, as well as some wishy washy line art

Hey! So we are currently working on some fully voiced video versions of the comics. Still early stages, but it’s coming together reeeeal nice and I’m super excited about it. But the most mind numbing part of the process (primarily handled by lovely Marissa, because she’s lovely) is organizing and re

I’ve been playing around with my ohuhu markers in preparation for webcomicon this weekend and figured I’d redraw some oldies in physical real life form. It took a couple tries to get vaguely confident with them, but I think I’m getting the hang of it
