Ghost Stories Matt would probably like to know, and Eyup Lovely is being put through some awful shit right now, but he's dedicated enough that it might be a relief to have something nonpersonal to focus on

Hi Michael, I don't know if listener testimonials are a thing that you care about, but I wanted to share a way in which these shows have impacted my life and my people recently My whole adult life, I've had really persistent and chronic difficulty connecting with people, understanding people, relating to them, etc. Whether that's the PTSD or ASD or capitalist hyperindividualism or just low empathy or all of the above, I'm not sure. In any case, it has been something that repeatedly makes me question whether it's even possible to connect with people the way I see others doing, or whether there's some piece missing from my corpus that allows other people to understand each other Listening to your shows, particularly the Logic of Metaphor and the Placebo Selves series, has been a really critical piece of my effort to consciously reconnect with the people around me and in my community. Rarely have I heard someone talk about mythology and human connection in a way that felt resonant to such a degree. I've recently volunteered for a 3x/week harm reduction outreach program and I've been trying to take purposeful steps to keep up with people in my life whenever they may need help or support with things So, for whatever it's worth, I wanted to share a way in which your work has directly contributed to someone seeking and forging human connection who otherwise may have stayed isolated.
