Patron-Only AMA Questions August 2026
Hello everyone - Please comment, or message me (you can request anonymity), some of your questions for this month's AMA (ask me anything) video!
I'll give it a while to populate, so the deadline for questions is August 25th at midnight.
Thanks very much for your continued support - Looking forward to your questions!
Please keep it to a maximum of 2 questions per person so I can get to as many as possible. Thank you!
The picture above was taken by my wife Lynn at La Fonda on the Plaza in Santa Fe, New Mexico. We just stopped by to check out the hotel lobby, which is beautiful, and (to keep with the theme just once more) was occasionally visited by Cormac McCarthy.

Can you discuss story of the eye and what makes it great/ if your opinion on it has changed since your review?
Thanks Owen!
Hi Cliff, have you ever read any Yugoslav writers?
Thanks Jovan!
Hey Cliff! I hope the move is going well. A couple years ago, I moved from south-east England to Lake Charles, Louisiana for work and study. As a side note, Mark Richard of 'Fishboy' fame was born here. See also: gambling and petrochemicals. I found it difficult to consider Lake Charles my home for a while, but I'm slowly coming round to it (although we were pretty comprehensively burglarized this month). Have you ever been to a place that felt completely inaccessible to you, either pleasantly or unpleasantly? What did it teach you about where you want to be?
Thanks Seth!
Do you still playing on a guitar? Who's your guitar hero? In my case it would be John Frusciante.
Thanks Artur!
If you could live in the world of one book. What would it be and why? Mine would probably be A Moveable Feast.. I’d essentially live out the plot of Midnight in Paris.
Thanks hallogallo!
Hi Cliff, is there one novel that despite several attempts on your part to read it you just have to put it down because you can't get into it? P.S for me its Confederacy of Dunces. I just don't get it, how is it meant to be 'hilarious'?
Thanks G J!
FYI Cliff, forthcoming from the great Samm Deighan, author of 'The Legacy of World War II in European Arthouse Cinema', and host of 'Twitch of the Death Nerve' and 'Eros + Massacre' podcasts: “Earlier this afternoon, I finished indexing my upcoming Żuławski book…it should go up for a brief pre-order period in September”
Have you read Pale Fire by Vladimir Nabokov? If not, are you planing to read it in the near future? I am currently reading it and enjoying the book quite a bit.
Thanks Igor!
You have read a decent chunk of non-fiction on the channel spanning literary criticism, psychology, philosophy, etc. and have mentioned the influence of an author like Bataille on your life. Do you find that these influences are making an active change in your way of thinking or your life, or do you find these texts more fun to engage with rather than seeing them leading to active internal change? What books would you recommend, or want to read, that you think can inspire internal and external change in someone else?
Thanks Kaleb!
Glad to see you stopped by Santa Fe. As a NM local, we love it here.
It's a gorgeous spot, nice choice!
From the books you read throughout the years, what is the quote encapsulated with so much meaning within a single sentence that stayed with you to the point it has become your de facto motto?
Thanks Robert!
Hello Cliff, I'm glad to hear you have made it to (and through) AZ safely. For the AMA, I would like to know: What is (1) work from your reading history which has best reflected your perception of the human condition, and what is (1) work which has challenged it? As always, thank you for all that you share with us. - Joseph / Grayfoot
Thanks Joseph!
Do you/ have you practiced meditation before? And if so, what has your experience with it been.
Thanks Owen!
