Better Than Friday - 333

Good evening, friends, how goes?

Just finished Arthur Schnitzler's short decadent novella 'Dream Story', the source material for Kubrick's 'Eyes Wide Shut' - I recommend it. Review coming soon. You can finish it over the weekend.

Still exhaling after the last Sexual Personae video, gearing up for attacking the TBR pile for the year, amidst other things.

Simultaneously, big changes in real life - We will be leaving Florida this year. Bittersweet, but necessary. Where, at the moment, is uncertain...It's a big country. We shall see...

  1. Book to read: Dusk and other short stories by James Salter (Paid Link)
Caught this one from friend and patron Chris. I loved Salter's 'A Sport and a Past Time', curious about his short fiction.

  2. Rest in Peace Michael Silverblatt
There goes a great one. We recently lost the supremely intelligent literary critic Michael Silverblatt. I still need to listen to many of his interviews with great authors. Among his many accomplishments, he was the critic who coined the term 'transgressive fiction', for which I'll forever be grateful.

  3. Pedro Concepcion - Babalik Ka Rin
A beautiful track by a famous Filipino classical guitarist.
Has a sort of Bernard Hermann vibe with that string arrangement.

  4. A Georgian dinner turns into a traditional polyphonic choir
Sent to me by my brother. Phenomenal.

  5. "Partying with Nick Land"

What a strange era to live in. I recommend the article.
Funny that it coincided with BTF #333
Found via friend and patron Lukas

Eyeing Henry Fuseli's The Nightmare in the Detroit Institute of the Arts circa 2018
What a gorgeous museum.

My god. I want to go to a Georgian dinner. Chills, man. I've got chills.
