Besides Moby Dick, what book is your white whale?
Thanks Stephen!
Saw the post about leaving St. Petersberg. Where are you looking to move?
Thanks John!
Watched your Bataille videos again today. Has anyone’s work stuck with you in the same way? Close seconds?
Thanks Jack!
What country do you think produces the best authors?
Thanks Dan!
Hey Cliff! Most people understand that there’s simply no way to read every piece of literature that is of interest to them in a single lifetime. That said, are there any works or even entire areas of literature that you feel particularly guilty for having not gotten to at this point? For example, despite my name, French literature is an almost total blind spot for me.
Thanks Jacques!
Hi, a question might have been already asked in previous AMAs. Sorry if it's a repeat. What are your thoughts about e-readers in general? Personally, I keep switching between the two. If I have a book in e-reader format, I end up buying it still in a paper format.
Thanks Paul!
Two related questions; Besides the works of Yukio Mishima, do you have any other favourite japanese works of literature? And is there any literature from that region that you are keen to read in the future?
Thanks G J!
How do you feel about video game adaptations of literature I remember you did a review on I have no mouth and their is a classic point n click game based on it. I always thought books could make interesting video games more so then movies if only because we interact with them in much the same way. Aside from countless adaptations of Lovecraft I could see House of Leaves being an interesting video game in much the same way PT is.
Thanks Shea!
What do you think about a YouTube channel based on short stories review?
Thanks Azure!
Alongside the mechanics that make for good horror from last month, my other question is about poetry. I've always struggled with it and never felt much in the times I've tried it. What are your tips for enjoying / getting something out of poetry and how do you view its place in literature as a whole?
Thanks Jordan! I'll be sure to answer both questions.
Thanks for the strong work! Have you ever explored the work of Can Xue (or other Asian horror/surrealist writers)? Her piece "Hut on the Mountain" is a great introduction - only ~5 pages but is bizarre and unsettling.
Thanks Data_Johnson!
