Status update Episode 12
Happy Friday! And I mean HAPPY FRIDAY!
The content for Season 3 is now 100% complete! Season 3 is complete!
I'll say that again. SEASON 3 IS COMPLETE!
Beta testing has just started with my trusted beta testers (and, since people always ask, it's a private beta, and not a public one). The testers have been given a long list of tasks spanning the entire season, and now they will have the time to dig in.
I'm eyeing some potential release dates in August, but I haven't decided which weekend yet. It all depends on how smoothly testing fares, and how much I fucked up and missed during development. (Gulp)
Next Friday, I'll be able to give a hint of how it's going.
You can expect a release date announcement some time later this month.
Next Friday will also be the final status update for this release cycle, in which I will post a preliminary changelog.
Patreon tier changes
In the rest of this update, I'd like to announce the upcoming tier changes to my Patreon page.
I have to make these changes to accommodate the upcoming Season 3 release on Steam/GOG, and I have tried my best to minimize the impact on patrons while keeping the upcoming and favorable tier rewards similar to the past.
In September, the following tier changes will come into effect.
Massive DIK tier ($30)
Removed: Have your name appear in the credits for Season 3. Currently unavailable
Added: Have your name appear in the final credits of Being a DIK (Season 4).
Huge DIK tier ($25)
Removed: Being a DIK - Season 1 and Season 2 (Complete, Ep 1-8)
Removed: Early access, access to the game (Season 3) as soon as possible.
Added: Being a DIK - Season 3 (Complete, Ep In + 9-12)
Added: Early access, access to the game (Season 4) as soon as possible.
Major DIK tier ($15)
Removed: Access to new updates (Season 3) 3 days after Early access release.
Removed: Access to "Being a DIK: The complete official guide"
Added: Access to new updates (Season 4) 3 days after Early access release.
Added: Access to "Being a DIK: The complete official guide - Seasons 1-3"
Added: Access to "Being a DIK: The complete official guide - Season 4 (For the current Season 4 version)."
DIK tier ($10)
Removed: Access to new updates (Season 3) 3 days after Early access release.
Added: Access to new updates (Season 4) 3 days after Early access release.
Mini DIK tier ($5)
Removed: Access to new updates (Season 3) 2 weeks after Early access release. NOTE! PATCH ONLY. You need the base Patreon game from the DIK tier the first time.
Removed: Access to new patches of Season 1 and Season 2. NOTE! PATCH ONLY. You need the base Patreon game (v0.8.0 or higher), from the Huge DIK tier, the first time.
Added: Access to new updates (Season 4) 2 weeks after Early access release. NOTE! PATCH ONLY. You need the base Patreon game from the DIK tier the first time.
Added: Access to new patches of Seasons 1-3. NOTE! PATCH ONLY. You need the base Patreon game versions of the respective season the first time.
Product posts
Added: Being a DIK - Season 1 and Season 2 (Complete, Ep 1-8) $25
A one-time purchase of a post containing Seasons 1-2, and any new updates to Seasons 1 and 2 that get published on Patreon in the future.
Tier changes explained
The biggest change is that Seasons 1-2 will be moved to a product post because I need to make my games' pricing fair across all platforms. And I didn't want to raise the prices of any tier.
This was the most convenient change I could think of, as it allows me to keep my Patreon page going as it has in the past.
This means that the upcoming episodes of Season 4 will follow the same release-cycle pattern as Being a DIK has since its beginning.
Huge DIK tier ($25): 3 days early access to Season 4.
DIK tier ($10): Access to Season 4 three days after early access.
Mini DIK tier ($5): Access to Season 4 patches. (And yes, the first release of Season 4 v0.13.0 will be a full release for this tier, meaning you can initially get the first update of Season 4 for $5.)
Season 3 will move to the Huge DIK tier, replacing Seasons 1 and 2.
The credits section reward will reappear in September, and this time it's for the game's final credits, since Season 4 is the game's final season.
During the development of Season 4, this credit section will look familiar to you, but I do have some special plans for the credits when Season 4 is complete. And everyone in the Season 4 credits section will be included in those special plans.
Other than that, the changes are mostly just renamed tier descriptions. But for clarity, I wanted to list every change. If you have questions, just ask in the comments section, and I'll try my best to answer.
And again, these changes will take place in September, and they won't affect the release month.

Most welcome news indeed. But just to put it out there, patreons should check their tiers and subscriptions, I just saw I was switched to the lowest tier and anual billing not midd tier monthly.

ep12 is coming out in a few weeks depending on beta testing. If they find a lot of issues it will take longer but I doubt it. Probably looking at three weeks tops before we can download it. Depends how picky he gets about stuff that may be missing. And if he deems it worthy of bothering with or not.
PLEASE make it the first week of August if possible as thats the only one i can actually play it for the rest of the month! <3 T_T

I pretty much predicted the tier change aside from the product tier it does make sense looking forward although for me it’s a long time off being that I just got my new laptop and all my old saves are toast I do have a back up of the game i will get started at some point well once again great work

Congratulations on the upcoming release! With the upcoming changes, what happens post-September if we need to re-download a portion of the game? We have to buy it again separately?
The product post for S1&2 is buy-once-only, and access is retained. For the other tier rewards, it's a subscription, like it is right now for everything on my page. I would strongly recommend you to make backups of whatever it is that you download, so you can keep the games yours forever without resubbing if you need to download it again.

There's no game that draws me in as much as Being a DIK. No other AVN. No AAA Title, nothing. I'm always incredibly hyped for the release and the amazing feeling of the first playthrough, maybe even more so this time because of the major developments at the end of chapter 11 that will come into play now. There's a weekend in August where I have the house to myself with the wife and kids out of town. Here's hoping that will be the release weekend, so I can do nothing but play the game for hours upon hours!

As always i look forward to the friday Updates, But oh boy the exictment and hype just got bigger. i've always had a feeling the past updates that we were close but holy hell now its a reality, and my god i cant wait to play episode 12. My sleep schedule is gonna get messed up so bad once it releases, but i dont really care since im sick on leave for the time being, and having BAD to occupie me, i just know im gonna have a blast with it. i havnt played season 1 and 2 for a while now since ive done all the branches and routes, but this game has had such an impact on me that i can still remember what happens during each branch and outcome and that for me just proves how much of a masterpiece this is you have created Doc and that the support from your community is well deserved. From the moment we get to download the episode i will be glued to my pc for many many hours only being away from it when i have to eat something. I cant wait to see all our Girls and brothers again and i bet everyone is stoked to see what you've have done with their favorite girl/girls i know i am. Man i could go on and on about how exicted i am for this but i wont xD. Hope beta testing goes smoothly and from all the polishing you've done i highly doubt that you've fucked up alot/if at all. Nah, I'll need a rest after playing this. This game has released what, 6 years ago now? And assuming 4 seasons, it's a good chance it'll take at least another 5. 4 at the very least.
So which tier would I need to be to download the full game which includes interlude & Episodes 9 to 12 and also which tier would I need to be to get the full official guide when released with the interlude and Episodes 9 to 12 and when will the final preview for Episode be released?
It depends on when you want to play. As soon as possible -> $25 tier Three days after that -> $10 tier 2 weeks after the original release(patch only) -> $5 tier Guide is in the $15 and will be released sometime after the episode release. Maybe not in the same month as the release.
