Status Update Episode 12
Happy Friday!
This week I've worked on multiple things. Let's take them one by one.
As you're likely aware, there will be a Season 4, and I plan to release that as a separate game/DLC just like Season 3. I've seen players who need more than the 20 transfer slots currently available between S2 and S3, so I have tried updating the GUI for the S3->S4 transfer to include more slots.
The interface now looks like this.
It has 60 slots and behaves a bit differently than it did back in Season 2, but there shouldn't be any difficulty navigating it.
One major change is that you can add a personal note to the saved game, and that note will appear as read-only in S4, making it easier to stay organized and give yourself some clues about what the save is for. Maybe you did some very specific things, or just like to keep a record of what that save file is, without having to load it and play.
You can still delete and name the save transfer files as usual. I think it came out great. It needs some testing, but it appears functional. I've updated the backend with all episode 12 variables and will just add any extras that may slip in during the remaining development.
I also made the End-of-Season screen. The one that usually tells you to "save here". Not a lot of work is involved with this one, but it's important nonetheless.
I started working on the end-of-episode reports, too. I've written the canon events that I want in the reports, and I've entered some more specific events from the episode for a couple of the different branches. The reports still lack background art, and I need to add more events from other branches. I'll update it after each branch I play and work on.
I started working on a final, smaller free roam event. Wrote scenes for it and made some art. It needs more writing and art.
I am playing another main girl branch now, in different ways. While doing that, I'm fixing things in general - mistakes and such. It's kind of like polishing, but a rougher version.
So far, I have written four more scenes for that branch while playing and tweaking. This particular branch has many variations, and it's probably the trickiest branch of the episode to get right.
I've worked plenty on music and SFX this week, too. There's one part of the episode that needed some extensive SFX work, and I sat down and did it. As a result, with music and SFX, playing through that part of the episode was one of the highlights so far.
Music and SFX work is likely above 80% completed now.
Right now, I'm creating static renders for the scenes I wrote. After that is done, I will create more art for the final free roam event and play more playthroughs of the same main girl branch I'm working on.
I hope that I can move on to another main girl branch next week, but we'll see. As always, it's important to me that all main girl branches get the same kind of treatment and love.

Hey brothers and sisters, I realized that I was not given the option to return to Zoey in all my Josy/Maya playthroughs. Did anyone of you get the option? Just curious, if it is not possible at all or if I have to review my decisions in that playthroughs.

Only 60?! /jk This will be a much-welcome change. Any chance you could patch the previous season's slots with this function, so that at least we could add more details to the save if needed, even if the number of slots stays the same? This will likely break older (<0.12.0) versions of the game so I would understand if the answer to this is no. Another question: any plans of adding anti-crash support to mid-script saves? Sometimes when I load old saves, they load in a different spot or crash my game because the "script changed in an incompatible way" so I was wondering if there is a way to add an identifier to each scene so that it always loads by ID and so never loads a different spot regardless of whether the script changes or not.

Thank you for the news! I'm happy to hear that we'll get more final saves slots and the ability to add notes to them. A lot of people love to experiment with decisions to see how it influence the playthroughs and it can end up being confusing what each savegames are. The notes will help a lot in this matter. I'm very curious about this particularly complicated main girl path. I would very much like to know which it is to start experimenting with it. I suspect that it's either the J&M path or the Sage path. There are signs that the first is going to struggle soon with the MC stepping into a relationship that was already struggling while I can see that Sage's path is filled with potential traps or alternative roads (having slept with Jade, being unfaithful, going for the threesome with Camilla instead of declaring your love for Sage). Although it seems like there is still quite a bit of main content to add, the fact that you have already started working on things that are linked to polishing the episode before general release is very encouraging to me. It implies that the final release on Patreon isn't too far off now.

As always Doc thanks for the update and the fact that you play through each branch just show how much you care about this game and the experience your community gets. it just shows how much passion you have poured into this game (cant say that for some of the big game devs) and its only you working on it, normally i dont become a subscriber on patreons and stuff like that, but the moment i finished season 1 i went straight to your patreon to show my support. the amount of times i have questioned my own decision and had trouble making decisions in this game cant be counted on 2 hands. after each episode i've had the feeling "fuck i want more, i need more of this" normally i dont have trouble stop playing a game, but this got me hooked with the story, the girls, the drama everything is just amazing, to the point were i just forgot about time and then i suddenly realize ive been playing for 14 hours straight. hands down one of my favorite story/choice driven game and i already know im gonna struggle when episode 12 gets released and i finish it but i also know that season 4 is gonna be amazing and that might be an understatement. as always Doc keep up the amazing work and enjoy your deserved weekend. I know i speak for all of us when i tell you thank you for making this game and much love towards you. keep it up.
20 used slots is just wow, but I can understand cause of a Camila sense, where I don't know how I get cause there was not much of a difference to a different save lol

Would be great. The main issue is that I need to apply the same change to both S3 and S2. And the user must also have the latest version of both, or else it could cause incompatibility issues. There are, of course, ways to safeguard against crashes, but it presents a different challenge than setting the slots to 60 from the start, as in this case.
Oh, thank you in advance ever so much -- I replay paths with slight variations as the mood strikes, and have found that I keep roughly 18 saves permanently in the export state just changing out the last two for "current variant" as I go through. Having more slots to mess with would be great... and I'm sure I'll use the notes more than my current "save file naming convention for reminders" system. I'd love to know which main girl branch has so many variations that makes it that difficult. I understand if you can't answer that now but maybe you can for the next "ask the dev" Q&A if that's the case.
I'm guessing Jill is the one that has lots of ways to mess it up, but with the "locked door" reveal, maybe the Bella path gets really complicated. We'll have to play and see!
