🌻 FREE PRINTABLE: Save Your Sunflower Seeds for Next Year!
Those giant sunflowers around the farm have finally reached that point where it’s time to start thinking about what comes next… and I definitely don’t want all those beautiful seeds going to waste! 🌻❤️
So I made you a new Sunflower Seed Harvesting & Drying Guide that you can download, print, and keep with your gardening notes.
I walk you through when the sunflower heads are ready to cut, how I dry them, how to remove and clean the seeds, and the best way to store them for planting again next year.
And yes… some of the birds may get a few too. 😉😂
We’re actually doing this right here at Bradwood Farm. I’ll be cutting down our giant sunflower heads, taking them into the sugar shack to dry, and saving seed so we can hopefully turn this year’s flowers into an even bigger sunflower patch next year. 🌻
Download the printable below and save it for harvest time!
I hope you enjoy this one. Thank you so much for being here and following along with everything we're growing, experimenting with, and occasionally figuring out the hard way. 😂❤️
Happy harvesting!

Thank you Katy and Mark for this information, I have grown six Sunflower's in pots for the first time this year from free seeds given by a charity. I will harvest the seeds and keep for next summer. It's been a glorious summer this year in Great Britain.
The seeds seem to ripen from the outer to inner flower head so I generally wait for birds to start eating just a few of the outter seeds then I harvest the largest seed heads and leave the smaller ones for them
Thank you for the advice. I have been seeing open seeds on the ground along some of the smaller sunflower heads so I think I’m about ready to start cutting them down.
