Hi Lucy -- how much time do you spend each day or week rehearsing? How many times do you have to rehearse a song before you record it?

J

Yes Lady Lucy. You would make a wonderful country music singer and writer. It’s all about the story with country music.❤️❤️

A question I would like to ask you Lucy is there anywhere else you would like to live or do you love where you are and being close to all of your family.

Richard · August 15, 2026

Hi Lucy, I love your music. You have the ability to convey the emotion of each song not just sing the words. I think that sets you apart from most entertainers. So my question is, why have you not put out any DVDs. I love watching your YouTube videos but would love to have you in my DVD collection. I have purchased all of your CDs but watching you sing brings out the true emotion of your songs. Thanks

Lucy, I am so excited to hear that we are going to get a live performance of you singing The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face accompanied by James. This is such a wonderful song and your take on it is absolutely sensational. I have seen a number of your live performances of this song and all are outstanding. Many of us think that one performance in particular is arguably the greatest live performance of any song ever recorded. Now that’s a huge statement, but the fact that many people hold this view is enough evidence to confirm that you and this song were made for each other. Thank you in advance Lucy and thank you Roberta Flack and Ewan MacColl, a fellow Lancastrian, for creating and making famous, this beautiful song.

I
Ian Bailey · August 12, 2026

Hi Christopher I 100% agree with you on this , I also think Lucy's live version of this adds something special over the original , what that something is I don't know how to describe apart from it's not just a song but feels real . Really looking forward to this new offering with James .

Hello my dear Lucy, ❤️ Thank you so much for always responding to your fans with such kindness and sincerity, and, of course, with your beautiful smile. I can’t wait to hear you sing “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” with Mr. James, your incredibly talented pianist. I love your songs so much, and I truly enjoy listening to your beautiful voice. Wishing you all the very best, Lucy. ❤️🥰

Hi Lucy, have you thought of singing your Sound of Music medley on Patreon? Most of us have never heard this, as I understand you sung this in Japan . Just a thought.

J
Jan Volk · August 11, 2026

Have you ever heard of Jim Reeves? I ask this because he was very popular in England in the 60’s having a number of songs reach the top 10 at that time. I bet your grandparents maybe would have remembered him. He had a very warm voice and was one of the first country music singers that used violins for his background music. Like you he sang mainly ballads. One In particular was “Is it really over”. If you get a chance I think you would really appreciate his voice if you give him a listen.

J
John Gilbert · August 11, 2026

Dear Lucy, I imagine that during some sessions with James, and with your band, you enter into a music "JAM," singing all kinds of music, and some from different genres, having a "WOW" of a time. Would I be correct?

G
Gabriel · August 11, 2026

Wow, thank you, Lucy, for that lovely moment of sharing. You’re so lovely, and we’re all so proud of you. It’s a joy and a real privilege to have someone like you. And as a singer, I can’t remember a single time when I didn’t think, at the end, that it was perfect. Every single time, even when I didn’t know the song, I’m completely blown away.

Yes I really enjoyed this. You have such a great outlook on life. I loved all your answers. Not so sure that I want you to go on safari though. I don’t want to see you running away from an angry elephant. I remember you saying that you were a pretty good runner so maybe I don’t have to worry. I would love to see you come to Nashville though and start your song writing as long as you took time to do a couple of concerts.

C
Carmen Bosco · August 10, 2026

Lucy I was wondering how do go about choosing a song to cover?❤️

D
David Dunkley · August 10, 2026

Hello Lucy , just a question please ? I assume in your early days you sang amongst a choir ? Do you ever contemplate doing a gospel or bluesy track with a choir ? I think your natural soaring vocal backed with a choir would be wonderful ? 🙏🏻🇬🇧🎵🎶🎤

I
Ian Bailey · August 10, 2026

David Lucy has done a song with a choir its called Dear Lord and it's on the Rosie Album and also on the rosiethemusical channel on YouTube it's absolutely amazing.

D
David Dunkley · August 10, 2026

As always Lucy thank you for this lovely video 🙏🏻🇬🇧 First of all , you look so cool & relaxed in the beautiful sunshine as well as a stunning backdrop ( I’m assuming mum. & dad’s garden ? ) and gorgeous laid back vibe 👏🏻💙 to a large audience of supporters , the fact musicians & performers are reticent to hear themselves played back , may seem odd ? But i to think it comes from an ingrained desire to give music or songs reverence and strive for excellence to honour the composers & lyricists imaginations the kudos they deserve. It was heart warming that you allow moments of self praise when a track pleases you ! And getting that undeniable fizz when a rendition is beautiful , is lovely !👏🏻 i also think as a performer we all strive for the impossible perfection , and the British attitude of underplaying your own brilliance comes out when you worry about appearing big headed ? Never underplay your talent Lucy , accolades of your abilities and the sense of joy & pleasure you bring us is genuine. 👏🏻🙏🏻🇬🇧💙🎤🎶🎵 Thank you , Keep up the hard work as always 🙏🏻

I wonder, who or what are you measuring yourself by when you listen to your own music, to give yourself such a mediocre grade? Maybe more original music would help with that and improve the grade. Just curious what you may have thought of your "Don't Walk Away" and "Starlight" pop version performances since they are originals? To me, they are phenomenal and should be all over the airwaves.

Another brilliant question and answer session 🙂 Just to touch on your Nashville dream, I meet many singer songwriters from there and the best part is they come over here to a lovely bar in Atherton. I've just been there tonight to see one, Shelley Fairchild, along with a home grown one from Burscough, Jake O'Neill, who was on The Voice a few years back. Gary Quinn organises an acoustic chill once a month on a Sunday there, Gary has written many songs and co-written with Brett James, who wrote Jesus Take The Wheel. He would be a very good contact for you. Google Carmen Bar & Eatery if you want to find out more. Maggie Baugh has recently played there, she was Keith Urban's utility player.

R
Rone · August 9, 2026

Dear Lucy You have the most beautiful way of singing and the most wonderful voice. You have so much potential. How is it that you almost only sing cover songs ? Can it really be true that there is no songwriter or composer who will make songs for you ? You do make the most beautiful cover songs, your version is always more beautiful, better than the previous one. But when you sing a cover song with a slightly high tempo, it seems as if it is dragged down in tempo, why? It could be exciting to hear a song from you at a higher tempo ? You did a beautiful version of "starlight" with "Starlight - pop version", but it would be exciting to hear a song from you with a faster tempo than the ones you have sung so far. Have you thought about choosing which music style suits you best and which one you want to make a career with or will you continue to only make covers of musician's successes? I think no matter what genre you choose, you will shine as the best singer of our time. Best wishes for your future

I find it both amusing and endearing that don't see yourself as your fans see you. I have never once listened to one of your performances and thought that "she could have done it better". I have never met you and obviously do not know what your day to day live is like. I am sure that there are times in rehearsals that you mess up. But the final product always sounds perfect to me. Different voices resonate differently to different people. But of all the female vocalists that I have ever heard, your voice resonates the best with my brain. I guess that is why I listen to you every day. I selfishly want you to never stop singing. I pray that you stay healthy and happy. 🎅❤️

Very pleased to hear about Nashville, because I think you are a natural for a crossover country hit song (also if there visit the amazing total recreation of the Parthenon in Athens - it is a perfect copy, including the huge statue of Athena and even the direction of sunlight has been matched - it's in a large park near downtown Nashville. As for Africa, take every precaution regarding malaria - I've had two friends catch it there and once you have it, it can come back again and again, though they have been working on a vaccine - don't know how far along that is. It is an absolute delight to see and hear you answer the really astute and interesting questions your fans ask. Keep it up! Jim.

D

Another great job Lucy. I did have one question come to mind. When you and Martha are singing duets together, do you, as the more experienced singer, usually take the lead in the song or do you both just generally, feed off of each other?

Hi Lucy, I cannot wait for your upcoming Patreon release of "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face!" When I first heard it here from the Christmas Palm House show, I was absolutely floored. Lucy, you are so funny and I love all your answers! Been to Kenya for two weeks and Tanzania for 10 days. A safari is a must do on your bucket list!! I used to run long distance in high school. Yes I was skinny once! I used to listen to certain Tom Jones songs when I ran. Had just the right beat! As much as I dislike RAP, I can understand it being used to run on the treadmill. Hi Lucy,as regards to going to South Africa on Safari, please find the time to do it,i have a couple of friends who went earlier in the year & loved it!,haven't as yet been,as all my spare money goes on going to Auckland every year around Christmas time to see my daughter & two of my Granddaughters!😀 As to the question asked of you as regards to a certain song you are particularly happy with,if I thought about it I would probably go for "Evergreen", for one I was particularly impressed as to the way you delivered it especially as this style of music isn't something I would normally listen too,(until you came along!😃) & for another it is the best version I have ever come across!. You also mention again taking up playing the piano & guitar,it would be great if you could as this would obviously be of great benefit to you as too getting into songwriting, something I know you would like to do!,my question is involved with this, are you still working with the two songwriters that I think you took up with?,& where do you think your strengths may be as to the style of music you may get involved in writing?,Thank you Lucy,Ad Astra!.🌟😃

I can see you enjoying Rap since many people enjoy Rap. But there is a new thing now: Have you heard Angine DePortrine? They are the duo that I think drives musicians nuts more than anyone else, yet we can't stop listening to them. They don't sing; in fact, they dont really talk, so no worries about ever having to sing anything there. I'm trying to imagine your reaction while listening to them. Once again, great video and great questions.
