Oh my, Lucy! That was the most beautiful thing I have ever heard! You evoked the Lucy Gooseys, the Thomas Trembles, and tears to my eyes! Please strongly consider covering the beautiful song "KILLING ME SOFTLY WITH HIS SONG", also sung by Roberta Flack. Just like with "THE FIRST TIME EVER I SAW YOUR FACE", Roberta won a Grammy Award for Song Of The Year. Hopelessly Addicted in Arizona!

Bill Kirner · August 23, 2026

A song with such emotion and feeling. Great job to you on a song written by a British folk writer, in the late fifties. And released in the late and Roberta Flack in the late sixties. Which took off when it was used in a MovIe Play Misty in late 1971. Won song of the year at the at the Grammy in 73. And Roberta Flack followed it up the following year the same with Killing Me Softly

Lucy. I have hoped for a long time if you would ever sing this on if my absolute favourite sings. Having just played recent version. It left me stunned of your interpretation of this beautiful song. It bought tears to my eyes. Thank you Lucy. It would be wonderful to see you sing it in Geneva where I will be with my daughter. Your variation of tone voice are something different to your previous songs. Thank you for making my day David.

My comments are late, (I have been away). This song was a favorite of my late Sister, Diana. She was a very talented artist, great vocals, guitar. I played the piano accompanying her maybe hundreds of times in public performances. It is a song that the pianist is an integral part of the melody, and must combine with the vocals in synch, and empathy. James, and yourself do this performance together as perfection.

This is so beautiful and amazing I need to listen to it everyday. The other video is you singing Ave Maria (both ages). I have to admit I do listen to the one at age 22 a lot more. My favorite is one most people might not pick "Smile" because it helped me survive after my mother passed away. That is why I also pray for and love 💗 your family and always will. I know I'm not the only one with a story like that but that's mine and now you know my secret and whoever might read this.

You shouldn't have a favorite child and it can be said the same with Lucy's songs but The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face and She Used To Be Mine when performed live are so emotional that they draw you in with every note, I just don't know how you can surpass them. Lucy and James thank you so much.

T
Tom Donofrio · August 18, 2026

Lucy the emotions you bring to your music are so deep words can’t describe it. The clarity of your voice in this song far exceeds any of your former songs released here on Patreon. The sound quality of this recording and video clarity was like sitting there in the room with you. Thank you.

Hank Funsch · August 17, 2026

Lucy, I'd like to add another comment... recognizing James. I just listened to Roberta Flack and Leona Lewis (whose live performance WAS my favorite until your 9/25 veeps performance). Both had full orchestras supporting the singer. Here, James, knowing he is accompanying the greatest voice on the planet, did a wonderful job providing superb support but allowing your voice and heartfelt emotional delivery to be the centerpiece. Your voice is the orchestra... a masterpiece!

M

George G · August 17, 2026

Hi Lucy. Firstly this is a splendid heartfelt performance by you and James. Truly impressive! Secondly, for you to be able to sing with such emotion and perfection while sitting in your chosen posture, truly impressive! And finally, at the end of the song, did you say what I think you said about James??? Regardless, I thank you and James from the bottom of my heart for this exceptionally lovely and moving rendition. Wonderful in every way! -- George

H
Hugh McAninch · August 17, 2026

I absolutely adored that part at the end; what was James up to? Nonetheless, it made me stop, it made me listen and it was captivating. It’s a stunning song that will connect with many for various reasons. Lucy’s extraordinary talent for interpreting a song and conveying its entire emotion is remarkable, and what’s truly astonishing is that Lucy continues to get better. One can't help but wonder when will her peak arrive, I don’t think it ever will because Lucy is so innovative she will keep striving for her interpretation of perfection and will keep surprising everyone.

G
Gare Brundidge · August 17, 2026

Lucy, I've got to ask. What happened at the very end of the song? It looked like maybe someone came in and interrupted you? I was not prepared for it to end; I hadn't yet wiped the tears from my face! Still the most wonderful rendition of this song ever, ever!

One word BEAUTIFUL

G
Gare Brundidge · August 17, 2026

Lucy, you are making splendid use of your time here on this planet of Earth, because we all know that you came here directly from Heaven! You may have presented yourself as a babe, but in a very short time, that disguise has revealed to be a complete ruse. Lucy, there are a countless number of singers on this planet, but there is only one Lucy Charlotte Willow Thomas! Not only is there a beautiful package with timbre, technique, and breath, you have a unique intelligence, instinct, and intuition to sing every song in the exact way that the song has longed for to be sung. A song is a living thing waiting for the time it may release its soul in its intended purpose. Then, Lucy, when you finally breathe into that song, its "breath of life," we have this--, "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face"! On the occasions when I may be angry with God, and it happens to all of us from time to time, I have only to listen to your songs, Lucy! And I can glory and exult in the wonderous gift that he has given us. It may be trite, Lucy, but nevertheless true--You light up my life!

I

Lucy I had to listen to this performance a couple of times before I could make my commitment. This was not just a beautifully sung arrangement of a outstanding song but sounded of a woman that was totally in love with a person who she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. My thoughts is you just shared the most beautiful amazing performance I have ever seen or you just shared with us that you were in real honest love for the first time. My thoughts it's both.. but either way Lucy you got this hard heart to melt and caused me to do something I have not done for a while..cry like a little baby. After listening to this I am having trouble figuring out how to describe how I feel. Beautiful, heartfelt, fabulous doesn’t do it justice. Some people on Necker Island said your voice was maybe better than Streisand. To me you are absolutely better. I was a big fan of Dion, Houston, and Carpenter. But you are better than all of them. There is something about your voice that makes it more pleasing. I think it’s coming from your heart more than it does from the others. I just wish I had this recording when someone asked me why I think you are so special. I would just play it and say “that’s why”

J
Jay McClure · August 17, 2026

Beautifully done Lucy! However, that tiny little body of yours must have lungs the size of bag pipes and a diaphragm the size of a melon. How you are able to produce such beautiful tone and such amazing breath control, while sitting down, is beyond my understanding. It doesn't seem to matter if you or sitting or standing. We saw that in Rosie whilst in a full belt during "Broken Dreams", as well. You are truly a phenomenon Lucy!

That song, and the way you sang it, brought tears to my eyes in a way that it's never done before. I loved that song when it was first sung by Roberta Flack and I love it even more now and the way you sung it. Yes, it brought out so many emotions in me, more than I have ever experienced. Thank you, Lucy! I'm thrilled that you sang this song. It's so raw, so real, so genuine, so natural. ❤️❤️ I did forget to mention James, my deepest apologies to him, is an amazing pianist. You two work very well with each other. He, like you, is so very talented.

Oh my god Lucy , it was so crystaline clear and beautiful that i was on the verge of forgetting everything about who i was and just let go and become the music or voice. Your purity or talent or perfection or whatever just transcends time and space and sends me for a few seconds in a beautiful bubble of safety and love. So difficult to express the magic you create. Its undescribable and writing happens overtime so i loose the feeling(just a moment of eternity out of time) and i can only partially transcribe. Better i dont read myself cause it might look like i had weird hallucinating mushrooms so i ll just press send 😋

Bravo! You really felt that as did I. Having accompanied singers in the past on guitar, I know there is a moment where the sheet music fades away and you are just in sync with the flow of what each other is doing. Feels great.

Dear Lucy, You have probably heard many times before that you possess a very special gift. But I would simply like to take this moment to tell you what your gift has evoked in me – and presumably in many other people as well. Through your songs, you act like a flame that triggers a wave of love, depth, and genuine emotions, rekindling a nearly forgotten memory in our hearts. Through your singing, I have become aware once again of who I truly am. I am convinced that I speak for many people here who have had a very similar experience when feeling this deep connection to your music. You have shown me that the world is not so dark after all. Within those of us who have recognized the message in your songs, there is just as much love and light as you convey – because your music is what truly makes all of it resonate within us. I simply wanted to give you a small token of gratitude with these lines. Through your passion and your art, you create something profoundly true that touches our souls. Thank you so much for your music, which makes this inner truth so unmistakably tangible, and thank you for helping us recognize what we truly carry within ourselves.

What a performance. I need this directly in my veins, now. Talking about drugs, I was starting to have severe withdrawal symptoms yesterday. Thank you so much, Lucy. We expected greatness, but this is stupendous.
