Podcast 8: The Fires - feat. Simon Holmes à Court
Dear Patrons,
Here's the podcast for our latest Honest Government Ad about the fires.
And by the way, thank you for helping us to produce that video - it had an incredible response: it was retweeted by Greta Thunberg and published on her FridaysForFuture.org website.
It received praise from legends like cartoonist First Dog on the Moon, who said "this is the best work i have seen on the fires so far..."
As well as from slightly more dubious characters, like former PM Kevin Rudd who said "it cracks me up". (To which we responded that we hope it will still crack him up when we start making videos about Labor if their policies still include supporting coal & fracking at the next election)
Anyway - I am really excited to bring you Episode 8 of our podcast, in which I have the pleasure of geeking out with my guest - Simon Holmes à Court.
If you're confused about the so-called "energy debate", if you're wondering where we're *really* at with renewables, if you're not sure if our emissions are going up or down; and if you've even wondered wtf those Kyoto carbon credits are all about (OMG this is seriously the biggest shitfuyckery ever) - then this is the podcast for you!
It's 45 minutes long, so stick it on your phone and go for a long walk - you'll be glad you did.
Also, an important announcement:
I'm trying something new here: from now on, I'll be uploading the Juice Media podcasts to YouTube
Why? Because the podcasts have evolved into a rich companion to the Honest Government Ads, and I feel many will get a lot out of them. But unfortunately, relatively few people know about the them, since our audience is mostly on YouTube and Facebook.
We have 300,000 subscribers on each platform, but only about 3,000 people download each podcast episode. Something just doesn't ad up.
So, instead of keep trying to make everyone switch to a different platform, I thought it would make more sense to publish the podcasts in the same place as our videos.
NB: we'll still continue publishing the podcast on our podcast host, as usual, for all the podcast heads out there: so if you're subscribed you'll still see us in your podcast app feed.
/End of announcement
I hope you enjoy episode 8 of the podcast
You can watch it on YouTube
Or listen via our podcast page
I'll be back very sooon with Part 2 of this podcast, in which I have the ridiculous honour of interviewing climate scientist Michael E Mann.
And soon after that, with our next Honest Government Ad!
Giordano

Podcasts on youtube, awesome! I'd happily follow you to other video platforms too, one some other YT creators are trialing is lbry.tv Regarding the podcasts, and whether to have something visually play, I think Rich Roll's formula is a good one to emulate, and it's like many others out there too, such as Joe Rogan Exp (not that I watch his tripe). Anyway, the gal and I listened to your show last night over dinner, was great, thanks so kindly!!
So glad you and your daughter enjoyed the latest podcast - I hope you'll like the next episode, which should come out tomorrow! Will also check out Rich's podcast format... but I think it will be a little while until we're ready to do professional quality video podcasts. For now, I'd rather focus on making the contant good :)
still no transcript? I get that some people love spending hours listening to your voice, but I'm interested in content and I can read faster than I can understand speech.
Hi Moz, I'm doing my best here. I spent the best part of the past three days lining up the interview, recording, editing, publishing it to the podcast host, preparing an intro for youtube, etc. I understand that a transcript is important, and we will get to it. But we are a small team and we can only do so much. I am looking for someone to assist me with all this work, and when I have help we will be able to provide a transcript sooner.
I don't do the podcasts mostly because I have a huge list to listen to already. But great work.
Mate I think this is the most important podcast iv listen too and I listen to pod casts all day at work averaging 8-9 a day and this is by far the best iv heard in 2 years since I started. Dont ever feel like a pod cast is to long as my favorite pod cast before this one came out was hardcore history blue print for armageddon and that was a 6 parter and each part was 6 hours or longer so se d it mate. Any chance I could get the uncut version? As I feel that information needs to be heard. Also got a link to info about that membrane the criso developed for the hydrogen to make ammonia?
Hi Matt, so glad you got so much out of this podcast. I agree, there's a lot of great info in there! I don't have the uncut version... I literally cut bits out. But dw, it was mostly filler and tangents. The juicy stuff is all there.
I'm really glad to see these on Youtube too as it is easier to share these!
Great, thanks for letting me know.
