VARIOUS SPELLINGS OF DARKNESS

Hillis Waddell explained to the 1611 Fellowship the various spellings of darkness and their meanings in the 1611 AKJB. Below are his notes.

• (1) "darkenesse" = 110× in The Holy Bible 1611

   1st: Genesis 1:2 - that which "was vpon the face of the deepe" BEFORE God said "let there be light" => NOTE: close/direct association w/"voyd" & "without forme" => nothing discernable (height, depth, breadth, length).

   Last: Reuelation 16:10 - direct affect of the powring out of the 5th "viall vpon the seat of the beast, and his kingdome..." resulting in great paine.

• (2) "darknesse" = 31× in The Holy Bible 1611

   1st: Genesis 1:5 - what God "called Night" (opposite of "Day" in the same verse), therefore VERY distinctive.

   Last: 1 Iohn 2:11 - states PLAINLY that "he that hateth his brother is in [the Night]..."

• (3) "darkenes" = 19× in The Holy Bible 1611

   1st: Exodus 10:21 - THIS type "may be felt" => in 1 sense discernable.

   Last: 2 Corinthians 4:6 - ONLY Iesus Christ can dispel this "darkenes" in the heart of a true beleeuer.

• (4) "darknes" = 21× in The Holy Bible 1611

   1st: Deuteronomy 28:29 - speaks of individuals ("the blind ") w/inner (especially spiritual) blindness who "gropeth in darknes".

   Last: 1 Peter 2:9 - emphasis on who we beleeuers are - those who Christ Iesus called out of PERSONAL SPIRITUAL blindness!
