REVIVAL. WHAT'S IT GOING TO TAKE?
This is a message I gave maybe 10 years ago, before I knew the difference between the 1611 AKJB and the 1769 Blaney KJV. However, the message is still current. The reason I'm posting this is because various people have been talking to me about revival, and it has been suggested that I prepare a message on revival, dispelling some of the myths held by Christians. I'm contemplating how I would approach the subject today. If you have any suggestions, let me know.

news was saying today how islam needs a reformation (and they implied revival) "like Christianity", so it can be more modern, and more palatable for modern values
It wouldn't surprise me if Islam moderates decided to become culturally relevant. Their views on the Koran and Islamic tradition are often flexible.
"Revival" was a great marketing term back in the 18th and 19th Centuries. Lingered into the 20th century with the "Campground" movements and "retreats" and started all the altar call "big church" stuff. The idea of "revival" has always been associated with large group religious movements. Invariably these become dominated by men who organize and drive the "movement" more than the Word and Holy Spirit leading (1611 AKJV). And here lies the problem. Jesus calls us individually one by one. There are many who DO get called during these movements . . but the movement itself is never responsible. It is Jesus calling the individual to the Truth. When someone says "We need a revival" what they are really saying is we need to help Jesus reach everyone because the Word is not enough. I think it is as simple as directing them to the Word of God in the 1611 AKJV. The Living Water is in there. It will sustain and revive you.
Well-said, Roy. The altar calls, the big tent meetings, the Campground movements, Isuzu Street et al, is where the idea of revival took hold in the minds of Christians. It sounds good and spiritual, but the effects were short-lived, because it was all emotionalism, no real substance.
what do you guys think about the Nepal situation?
I don’t know what to think there! If I can’t see it with my own eyes and I can’t trust any media to authentically broadcast it and with AI dominating the air …..who knows
This is so on point. I recently realized that I had completely lost a friend to the dark spirit of dispensational futurism. While not part of any institutionalized 501c3 "social club", he has been so dogmatically ingrained with the false teachings of Scofield, Ruckman and others over the course of his 1769 KJV-Only life, that it seems the veil of Strong Delusion may never be lifted from his eyes. I had gifted him a Campbell AV1611 last year and explained a few of the differences between the 1769 and The 1611. It wasn't until just yesterday, that his aggressive stance that "Daniel 9 is not about Jesus Christ confirming The Covenant, but is about the future antichrist!", made very clear to me that his eyes could not be opened despite my many attempts to reason with him from The Scriptures, which opposes his presupposed views, which are based on emotion and the poisoned doctrines rooted in Rome.
I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Nothing short of prayer and God's intervention can change his heart. Indoctrination is a powerful thing, and difficult to reverse. It's like deprogramming someone who has been clinically brainwashed.
Reg, when you preached THE NARROW ROAD VS. THE BROAD ROAD. WORMEWOOD VS. A LAMPE UNTO MY FEET was a true revival message for the whole world to hear, dealing with Amos 8:11,12 & 5:7. .etcc, (along w/ this message.
hmmmmm, revival? thinking out loud here. when put ear to ground. it just won't translate over. no proof, just watching. i dont have any suggestions. "british nationalism" (new-right/post-woke) ..rising at the same time as new churches. feels more popular now. shoveling them all in, hand in hand. there's a church for everyone. because churches are fightingthesystem now. does your doctoring, nursery kresh, groceries, everything. "community support". people wanna beat the bad guys. but bad guys funding the buildings. strange how theyre also armed. and not armed equally. but that doesnt matter, because all buckle to same system. system that's burning down its own churches, and proclaiming there's a fight. getting people riled up. i dont think theres a fight [revival] at all. i dont...listen to current events that often. but seems to be just going the same way, in the river, still. TLDR the political-resources-screws are tightening but the inevitable religious-fervor gets funnelled nowhere good, into things that dont actually challenge the status-quo, they distract from it (HOW MANY ENGLISH FLAGS CAN I COUNT...) but reinforce it elsewhere (HOW MANY CATHOLIC-TEMPLAR-MEMES CAN I COUNT...?) but when there's one punch, there's another punch, too, right? --- who else here has looked around, saw nobody gonna do anything, then left? i find it very strange that the majority of ppl do nothing (yknow, in life, not specifically this group lol). just standin' around, perplexing to me. i hate this thing, in the air, and in the smokes of confusion, that's trying to wear the clothes of Christianity. it's disgusting.
I understand that Christianity is part of European and American history, and I want to keep that basic truth as part of our society, but I don’t want to represent it in a vain manner. Christianity is importantly to our history because it is the history of the contemplation and debate over the Truth and the Word (which in Greek is Logos, meaning something that accounts for something, as though it makes something make sense). It makes sense of the world because it is the Truth, and the Truth sets us free. Philosophers and theologians and novelists wrote their stories and treatises and all kinds of other material with at least their attempt at what they saw as reflecting on the truth of Jesus Christ. It is a very productive and noble part of our history that should not be forgotten, as it meets the standards of brilliance even by secular standards. Philosophers to this day continue to cite many theologians and professing Christian philosophers that wrote hundreds of years ago or longer. So yeah, I too understand that Christianity is an extremely important part of European history and culture. I also agree with what Elsie said that concerns her and how politics might cheapen that history and use the Truth in a vain way.
Thanks Reg, shared this twice!
Amen, Hillis.
I’ve never encountered revival as far as I’m concerned in church circles. There was always talk about it. And when they recognize there is no rapture I’m guessing there will be a greater falling away ! And if I look around me all I see are Godless Nations. It’s No surprise when there’s been so much watering down of Gods Word.
They think doing more of what they're doing with more zeal is revival, or will produce revival. They don't know that without change, there is no revival.
