Spelling Differences
Hi Everyone, Elsie noted that weights is sometimes spelled waights in the 1611. Can anyone shed light on this? Please let us know.

When I first posted this, I was certain I spelled waights, yet when I went to the post many hours later, the spelling had changed to weights. So, I edited the post to correctly reflect the spelling I intended to highlight. I hate the fact that the internet is so persistent on standardizing everything.
The word also reminds me of weighty matters, as though they are serious or grave to consider.
like matthew 23:23?
2 Cor 4:17 (waight of glory)
brain-note not directly related re:mingled/diverse/seeds/garments titus 1 defiled mind/conscience Deut 22 defiled vineyards revelation 3 defiled garments
Perhaps just another phonetic spelling variation in the authorized text that helps distinguish Auth 1611 from other translations? Like a seal or a stamp of authenticity?
which is worth cheering every single time even so :P
"Diuers weights, and diuers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD." Prouerbs 20:10 "Diuers waights are an abomination vnto the LORD: and a false ballance is not good." Prouerbs 20:23. It seems to me that the 'false ballance' and 'waights' (in 20:23) is something being covered up, something attempting to be kept in the dark. I would liken it to someone trying to seem they are truthful, righteous, "on the up and up"; yet they are really deceptive and trying to hide behind a false cloak of piety.
theres also Diuerse and Diuers Leviticus 19:19 Diuerse kinde Deuteronomy 22:9 Diuers seeds
do u guys mean Waights
i turn off all phonekeyboardgoogleandroid editing for this reason. but i gotta make sure
OK: while "weights" appears 5× in the 1611 and covers the whole spectrum (if you will) of what God has to say, "waights" appears only 2× in the 1611 in Proverbs and Ecclesiasticus - BOTH × in a VERY negative context (the Ecclesiasticus is altogether negative) so that it seems to stress the abomination of the false.
